“Nice place”

Travelodge Cockermouth Hotel

2 Jun 2008

We stayed at this hotel for one night on our trip to Lake District and Scotland. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Room was specious and clean. This Travellodge is on the outskirts of Cockermouth and the views over the mountains were great. Plenty of parking spaces.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

“A great base for the western Lake District”

This is a brand new Travelodge which opened in the week before Christmas 2007.
It is less than 1 mile from the town centre just off the A66 (A5086 junction) and is an ideal base for visiting the western Lake District (far quieter than the central and southern lakes!).
There is no restaurant associated with the hotel but there are some excellent eating houses in and around Cockermouth ranging from the award winning Quince and Medlar vegetarian restaurant to the Spice Club Indian restaurant. Also nearby you will find the Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater for great food and great beer brewed on the premises.

I stayed at this hotel on a short leisure break in December 2007.

I found the hotel easily from the A66. On arrival, there were plenty of free spaces in the car park, which was well lit.

At Reception I was attended to promptly . There appeared to be a number of staff on duty (more than usual for Travelodge) which I guess was owing to the fact that it was the hotel's official opening night. Throughout my stay I found the staff to be polite and helpful.

I was delighted with my room which was, in my opinion, spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable, spacious and stylish. The room features included:

- hospitality tray
- LCD TV
- Bathroom with bath and shower
- Wi-Fi connection to internet for your laptop (extra charge payable)
- room lighting which can be set to a warm-glow which was very welcome in the winter weather.

The hotel's "Bar Cafe" served cooked breakfast and hot meals at selected times of the day. The Bar served a fairly wide range of drinks. The dinner menu contained relatively few items, however the meals I had were prepared to a satisfactory standard and served promptly.

The hotel is only a few minutes drive from Cockermouth town centre and I think it would make a great base for exploring the Northern part of the Lake District.

The standard of this hotel exceeded my expectations and I felt that I could not have asked for any more at this low price.
