“A bath is must after climbing the mountains!”

Powe House

We booked this guest house as we really wanted a room with a bath, a must for relaxing those aching bones after walking all day. We were not disappionted, the new owners have been there for about a year and have totally transformed the place. We stayed in room three which had a king size bed and old fashioned fireplace, there are pictures if you go to www.powehouse.com of all the rooms. After a comfortable nights sleep and full english we walked the twenty minute walk across countryside (there is a path) to the town centre.
For the evening we ate at the Farmers arms about 100 yards away, which I think everybody staying there had the same idea and was very reasonable.
This was a really lovely stay and the owners were very friendly without being intrusive, we would have no hesitation with staying again.

We stayed at Powe House for a second time over the New Year break. Having had such a great experience the first time it was definately at the top of our list of places we'd like to stay and luckily they had an available room. The proprietors are most welcoming and helpful, with useful advice on places to visit, eat and pop out for a drink or two. Rooms are spacious and absolutely spotless with a great range of teas coffee and hot chocolate in the rooms which are Fair Trade products. The rooms themselves are decorated to an extremely high standard and are warm and very comfortable. Bathrooms are equipped with a powerful shower, full size bath and toiletries which are definately a cut above.

Within easy walking distance are a range of restaurants and pubs to cater to all pockets. Keswick is about a 15 minute walk away with all the facilities you could need. The guesthouse has a large carpark to the side of the property, so no problem if you travel there by car.

In all, I would definately stay there again and would have no problem in recommending it to all friends, family and anyone who wants a relaxing break in lovely spot in the Lakes.

Powe House has been immaculately refurbished in a simple, contemporary style to a very high standard by the new owners. We booked quite late and so were allocated the smallest double room - which turned out to be much better than we could have hoped for, with a spacious bathroom and full size bath.
Very nice breakfast, friendly hard working couple who deserve every success with their vision for Powe House. We will certainly be back.

“Really Relaxing Break in imaculate accomodation”

Powe House

My Husband and I had the good fortune to find this lovely guesthouse on the net; we had a two-night break there to celebrate a wedding anniversary.
The decor is relaxing, fresh and immaculate. The guesthouse is ideally situated for easy access for major routes, whilst being itself in a peaceful village, with several good pubs within walking distance. The Proprietors were genuine, friendly and welcoming, and helpful with local information.
Our room was lovely, with a marvellous king-size very comfortable bed. The bathroom, which was spotless, had a bath and very strong power shower, much needed as we travelled there by motorcycle. The powerful shower would also be appreciated I am sure, after a day spent hiking in this beautiful countryside, a pass-time that I hope to come back and do on our next visit.
Breakfast was a pleasant experience in a very tranquil room, hot and cold, served very quickly, we left feeling comfortably full both mornings.
We had several types of tea, also hot chocolate and coffee in our room, which were quickly replaced as used. I was pleased to find that fair trade products had been chosen.

With Welcoming, Efficient Hosts and Immaculately Clean accommodation I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting a peaceful and very pleasant stay in the Lakes.
