“Great location and views, average hotel”

We stayed in Room 1 which was a standard double on the lowest level of the hotel. The lake view was nice and it looked like all the other rooms would have a similar view. The room itself was acceptable, if a little tired, and the only complaint would be that the "double" bed was just two singles pushed together which made the middle of the bed uncomfortable. Other than that, no complaints.

We had a meal in the restaurant one night (phone ahead to pre-book and you get a £5 per head discount). The food was very good but the portions were inadequate for the price. There are loads of restaurants in Windermere a few minutes drive up the road if you don't want to eat at the hotel every night. Breakfast was OK, but not anything to rave about. It was the usual hot/cold buffet but the choice was a little limited and the food was nothing special at all. No complaints, however.

Overall it was a pleasant stay in a nice location, but nothing particularly special.

I decided to take my partner to the Lake District for his birthday.
I looked at many hotels and thought the Beechhill looked rather nice with its beautiful views,
I booked the Wordsworth Suite with the Hot Tub in the small garden area.
When we arrived we were taken to our room, which was very nice, the weather was reasonable so we thought we would try the Hot Tub, when we took the cover of the tub we were very surprised to find it filthy and absolutely stinking, I went down to reception to complain and was told she couldn't understand this as the tub was supposed to be cleaned daily, however there was nothing she could do that day but it would be cleaned first thing in the morning, which it was.
As we could only have the suite for 2 nights we were put into room 29, which once again was a lovely room, but so so cold,
they obviously switch their heating off in the summer, I mentioned this to the receptionist, who didn't really appear to be that interested, so on the 4th night we went to bed with our towelling robes on to try and keep warm..
The food was of a reasonable standard and the restaurant staff were all very friendly.
We were speaking to one of the locals and they recommended the Lakeside Hotel, so we went along on Saturday night and had the most delicous meal, the Hotel was beautiful and the staff were wonderful, so next time I go to the Lakes it will certainly be the Lakesde Hotel for us.

“top hotel”

Beech Hill Hotel

6 Jul 2008

We have just returned from a 3 day break at the beech hill hotel. On arrival we were offered complmentary warm drinks , which we took on the terrace overlooking the lake what a view. This was our 4th visit to the hotel and we haveenever been disappointed. This time we stayed in a premier plus room and it was awesome, huge bed, lovely bathroom, stunnig views, plasme tv, fresh flowers and a complementary drinks tray. We dined on the gourmet menu in the hotel restaruant and the food was superb , because this was our forth visit we was offered a bottle of sparkling wine with our evening meal. This put the final touch to an already amazing dining expereince. We will be back soon, our thanks to all hotel staff for making our break special

Thank you
John & Jenny Kennedy

“overall very pleased.”

Beech Hill Hotel

3 May 2008

just read the review on the 28th April and I must say my experience was the complete opposite. we stayed for 2 nights and booked DBB via the web (cheaper than booking direct with hotel) and the food was excellent. on both nights my wife and I ate the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and the other 2 courses were also very good. considering we eat in some of the best restaurants in london this was highly competitive and i would definitely recommend to stay here. the staff were very friendly and as we have a 7 month old baby were very accomodating with him making special seating arrangments for our evening meal on the 2nd night. the breakfasts are excellent and make a great start to the day. the only downside i would add is that the rooms can get cold in the evening as they turn off the heating and the beds are very soft so if you are used to a hard mattress you may have trouble settling down for the night. we stayed in room 29 which is one of the recently refurbished rooms and it was very spacious, clean and has a fantanstic view over the lake from the room or ideally sat on the outside terrace. my only other recommendation to the hotel would be to put some plants in between the rooms on the outdoor terrace otherwise you are sat together with other guests right next to you the plants would add some needed privacy.

“wedding breakfast”

Beech Hill Hotel

28 Apr 2008

just returned from attending a wedding at the hotel. i have to say was very very disappointed with the wedding breakfast.
the quality of the food was very poor , the beef we had was as tough as old boots ,curling up burnt at the edges and the veg was raw, i like crispy veg but this was raw !! The waiting staff did not have a clue on service and ' basil fawlty' stood in middle of dining room barking orders at them. considering this hotel has 2 rosettes for food, the service and standard of food was appalling.
i stopped at motorway services on way home and had a better meal the next day !!!!!!!

would not recomend to anyone , try any of the other hotels in the area,
