After arriving at the Braemount, we were given our room key and offered coffee. We came back downstairs to be given a tray with coffee and fresh scones and jam, while we completed the check in card. A nice touch and a good start to our stay! Our room wasn't huge but was clean and had a lovely four poster bed and nice furniture. The bathroom was also spotless. A 10 minute walk into Bowness led us to plenty of restaurants and shops to visit. The hosts of Braemount were welcoming and provided plenty of information about the local area. Breakfast was tasty and included cereals, croissants, fruit juices and a good selected of cooked foods, and as much toast as we wanted. A thoroughly enjoyable stay with better than average accommodation for a guest house. Quite a good location and I would recommend the Braemount to anyone.

From the welcome when we arrived, we could tell that we were going to enjoy our stay, lovely house , lovely room and, lovely hosts.
Parked the car and didnt need it till the drive home,five minute walk to windermere or bowness and restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. you could not ask for more.

I was a little disappointed with this place. It wasn't cheap and with lovely pictures online and the promise of a room with a 4 poster bed I expected luxury. Our room was fine with a lovely bed, but other details such as furniture, tv etc were certainly not 4*. The bathroom was also in desperate need of an update, especially the carpet which wasn't pleasant. However, on the plus side, the location was good, the owners were very helpful and the breakfasts were superb. I also appreciated the special touches like cream tea upon arrival and mints left on our bed every day. I just expected more for my money!

I booked the `family suite' in good faith in 2006 and everything seemed fine. The booking was confirmed that we would have the 2 rooms on the top floor for my husband, myself and our 2 children.

I confirmed our time of arrival about 4 weeks before our arrival and received an email back confirming our booking.

When we arrived, after having driven from Wales alll morning, we were met by a stony faced woman (name not given to us) and told that there had been a problem with our booking and that we couldn't stay there. This is not what we wanted to hear after a long trip with 2 young children. The woman blamed the previous owners, but her story is very hard to believe seeing as we had received a confirmation email from them about 4 weeks before our arrival.

The woman had booked us into a rather basic B&B in Windermere where we did stay. As it turned out the location was much better as Braemount is a 20 minute walk to Windermere. There are no restaurants or shops any nearer.

We found the experience very unpleasant and would warn anyone who was thinking of staying here not to bother.
