Excellent stay.

Really friendly hosts who make you feel right at home without being too intrusive. We were welcomed with a glass of wine and some snacks. The hosts offered lots of advice on walks and places of interest and seeemd genuinley interested in sharing the Lakes with us.

The location is superb, just between Bowness and Windermere - lots of restaurants and bars. Parking is restricted but there is plenty of space infront of the building anyway so not a prob.

The accomodation is spotless, we had a ground floor room which was due to be upgraded but was pleasant none the less.

Overall the accomodation is being upgraded and the newly refurbed breakfast room is superb - can't wait to go back and see the rest.

The best thing about the whole weekend was the breakfast - full English, not greasy, freshly cooked and even seconds if you could manage them! The other guests were friendly and the whole place is laid back.

WIll definitely be back!

I have stayed in braemount house for the last 2 years on seperate weekends and have had an absolutely fantastic time on both occasions!
My partner and i have stayed in the same room (room 7) on both occasions and have found the facilities in the room well above average!
On our 1st trip it rained all the 1st day and we couldnt get outside at all so had to stay in the room all morning and afternoon but we found more than enough to do (ie; dvds-videos-4 poster bed?)
Duncan and Janine are very welcoming and helpful and the breakfast in a morning is to die for!
As ive said my partner and i have stayed for the last 2 years and we were just talking about our 3rd stay at braemount house the other day and will be booking soon as we wouldnt dream of going anywhere else in windermere.

Although a clean Guest House with nice furniture I don't understand why it is given 4 stars. Our bedroom was cramped. The bath was so narrow an adult male would not have fitted in it and the shower screen inadequate which meant the floor was constantly soaked. The fan was not working in the bathroom and as there were no windows in there it meant it was constantly steamy and unhygenic. There was only one window that opened slightly in the bedroom. Luckily the weather was cool during our stay. The blinds were inadequate and let in too much light. There is only parking for a maximum of 4 CARS. The owner's response is to park on the road which is extremely narrow and already packed jam with them. There was also a bad atmosphere created by the owners who kept rowing and this made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I wouldn't recommend this place.

“Lovely extras, shame about basics.”

Weve just returned from a fab weekend in the lakes. The scenary is even more breathtaking than first imagined. We had done much research and decided mainly due to the reviews on here to book the braemount for our trip.
It all started well, we were left with a 4 poster room and a pot of tea which was most welcomed after our long journey. The B&B has a good selection of tourist information so we happily spent time planning our weekend. The wine glasses and DVDs available were also a lovely touch. We agree the breakfasts were lovely and would cater for all tastes!.
However we did feel a few of the basics were lacking, the bathroom was dated and had mouldy grout which was a little off-putting and there seemed residues of mould starting to form on the paintwork and showerhead, the towels were a little old as were our bed linen which looked like it had been washed within an inch of its life and we had the biggest cobweb forming above our 4 poster, this said everything was clean, maybe i was expecting a little too much, however a few replacements and updating which wouldnt be too costly would turn this place into something else.!!!
If your looking for a well run B&B in a great location this is the choice for you, if your looking for something a bit special then maybe this isnt your choice.

we have recently taken over braemount house and would like to inform all that the bedding and towels are now brand new and contract quality, we are now undertaking a sympathetic refurbishment starting with the dining room, little extras are being added such as bathrobes etc to make guests stay that bit more special, we still offer the traditional welcome of tea/coffee and scones or wine for the later arrival and guests old and new can be assurred of a welcome equal to the silver award given

We came here for a two night stay on 7th July 2006. Upon our arrival (very easy to find thanks to directions on the website) we were greeted and made most welcome by a very cheerful Janine. After we had been shown our lovely room we were provided with tea coffee and some really tasty scones with jam and cream, which we ate ouside on the well kept patio area.

Our room - Room 2 was located on the first floor at the front of the house, with two windows, one on the side and one on the front, both with great views - from the side window, you could even see the trees on the other side of the lake. The room contained an oak four poster bed with matching furniture and the decor and bedding was contemporary and homely. We also had a TV, DVD and VCR in the room - there is a DVD and Video library right outside the room with a huge selction of films suitable for all the family, these a free to borrow during your stay. Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate making facilities also have a place in your room along with the twin pack of biscuits. If you fancy a bottle of wine - there are even a tray on the landing table with wine glasses and corkscrew!! Or you could always but yourself a small bottle of water for 30p from the other landing area.
Our room also had its own ensuite bathroom - compact, but everything in there you need, including toiletries, face cloths and towels. Again, nice and clean with a great shower over the bath - the bath does come in handy after a day out doing lots of walking.
The room also has a hairdryer and a selction of leaflets and booklets about the area.

There are alot of attractions leaflets by the stairs and downstairs by the payphone, there are a selection of books about the area that can also be borrowed - (for those going into Bowness on a rainy night, there are a few taxi cards with telephone numbers on them, by the pay phone also).

Breakfast - Excellent food and lots of it, the choice is between a continental breakfast of cereals, toast, pan au chocolat and fruit or a cooked breakfast, or if you are really hungry you could feast on both!! The cooked beakfast is a choice of any combination of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs - boiled, poached fried or scambled and toast, the special is scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on hot buttered wholmeal toast. Everything tastes a good as it looks and smells, if not better. All this is served with tea or coffee and a coice of home made jam and marmalade to go with your toast. The dining room is also very homely, tastefully decorated and full of original features. A packed lunch can also be pre ordered before 5pm the day before you need it.

During your stay here, you also get access to Parklands Leisure Club which is in Bowness - we did not get time to visit here on this occasion.

I liked the touch of the mini Kendal Mint Cakes on the hall stand - these taste very nice!

We were made to feel very welcome here and we really enjoyed our 2 night stay here - shame it wasn't for longer. The only thing I forgot to do was sign the visitors book, so if you read this Janinne and Duncan, thank you so much for looking after us and making our stay here a memorable one.
