The hotel was clean and only a twenty minute walk from the Lake. Those are the only good points.
Entering the hotel was like stepping back into the 1980s with appalling decor, the mattress didn't fit the bed frame, the TV was positioned in such an angle it was impossible to see, the shower had no power and the bathroom fan was incredibly noisy. The breakfast was at best passable but almost certainly used tin mushrooms and meagre beyond belief.
Perhaps I sound a little fussy, but for this they charge £130 per night, which sadly I colluded with by paying instead of walking when I was shown the accomodation I had booked.
I would really hate for any overseas visitor to stay here and think this is typical of an English hotel

We at Beaumont House enjoy an exceptionally high standard of customer satisfaction and so it is very disappointing to come across someone whose views of his stay with us are anything other than positive. I am only sorry that this gentleman did not mention anything to us at the time when we would gladly have addressed any concerns he may have had.
I would like to take this opportunity to point out that Beaumont House is a traditional, stone built property which retains many of its original features. In keeping with this, we have chosen colours and furnishings that reflect the character of the house: and so we advertise the property as traditional, not contemporary.
The room this guest refers to was redecorated 18 months ago in creams and gold, accented with ruby red curtains and bed runner. The all white furniture includes a 5' king size four poster bed with matching 5'matress. We have never before had any complaints about the shower or bathroom fan, but will certainly investigate both as a result of this guest's comments. We constantly upgrade our guest facilities - in fact we are currently seeking estimates for a new hot water system which will boost shower pressure, and new flat screen TVs are also on order.
Breakfast at the Beaumont is by no means a meager affair: a choice of juices, fruits and cereals or porridge are followed by full English breakfast, using all fresh locally sourced ingredients: dry cured bacon, award winning sausages, free range eggs, fresh tomatoes, fresh mushrooms (not tinned!) and baked beans. A lighter fish option or fruit platter are also offered and guests are not limited to one choice: our young Japanese guests have been known to work their way through the entire menu!
We welcome this opportunity to address the comments given, and assure all our guests that we will continue to provide the very highest standards of accommodation and facilities for which Beaumont House has become known.
