Very clean & friendly, but not the 5 star hotel indicated on website.
Really a bed & breakfast rather than a hotel - I would say 3 stars, not 5 stars at all. Expensive for what it is.

This is a great hotel in terms of location (15mins from the train station and walking distance from the town centre - the perfect hub if your staying in windermere.
We stayed in the Bridal suite room which had a whirlpool bath - we had a lovely, large 4 poster bed and really decent furniture - very homely and clean. The down side was that the bathroom didn't have a door (hey might not be a big deal for some people!) but was a pain and something which you would have thought would have been standard! They say all rooms have power showers - this is not correct...the shower just wasn't strong enough and we found other guests also had this problem. The other big issue was that breakfast was only served between 8.15 and 9.15 - even on weekends!! As you can imagine - we struggled to get up for this, so not ideal if you're hoping to get up late. Breakfast portion sizes were small and got smaller the later you arrived for breakfast in the morning - quite a stingy approach really.
Other than, it was a nice stay - good sized bar in the lounge and friendly staff. Probably wouldn't go back though as think we could have stayed somewhere nicer at the cost of our stay.

I stayed for 2 nights in August 2006. As there were no more single rooms left, I stayed in a double. The room was nicely furnished, came en-suite, and was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Breakfast was fine. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.
We stayed for two nights at the end of November. The hotel is smaller than we expected it to be, and although the room was immaculate, it was very small. The brochure which was sent with our confirmation enthused about spacious rooms with four poster beds. I'm sorry to say we saw none of this luxury. The bathroom was not just lacking in space, but also the small things one would expect when paying top hotel rates, such as shower gel and shampoo. Just got the feeling of a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel owing to there being no evening meal arrangements. The much advertised leisure facilities were also something of a let down. having been told that they were at the back of the hotel, we found that it was a country club in another hotel almost two miles away. Hardly next door! To be fair, the breakfast was pretty good and there was adequate parking, but we won't be in a rush to go back.

At £50 per person per night the room we got was just not worth the money. There was still a dismanted baby cot, bedding, mattress etc in the corner of the room. The bed was hard as the floor and the pillows completely flat. The ensuite was tiny, the shower trickled water and the toilet did not flush properly. In fact my husband and I got so little sleep we decided not to spend the two nights we had originally booked.
That morning we packed up and went to breakfast and it was a good breakfast. I then went to tell the female owner that we had decided to move on. Her immediate response was "you can't", you have booked so either you stay or you pay. I explained, calmly, that the room was uncomfortable and had it just been me who had been unable to sleep I would have put it down to being 7months pregnant but it was my husband too and he could sleep anywhere. She stated that others had not complained so again we would have to stay as we had a verbal contract. This went on for a few minutes until I said I was on holiday to relax and did not want to argue. I set the money down and advised her to do whatever she saw fit (she was talking solicitors by this point) and I left. She then got up followed me, shouting abuse about how people like me made her sick etc.... I was most upset. I am sorry we had to leave but at £100 per night I feel it is important to get a nights sleep.
Location wise it is not bad, 10minutes walk to restaurants.
We saw no evidence of any leisure facilities.
It was clean.
