I would just like to say what a pleasant stay we had at this lovely, welcoming hotel.
From the moment we walked in there was a lovely family feel to the place and we were welcomed with a great smile from one of the owners Caroline with her husband Jonathan in the reception area.
They greeted us as if we were friends and the room that they placed us in was so warm and welcoming too.
I found this hotel on the website and it is exactly what it says on the tin, if not more.
We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was out of this world. Our personal favourites were the tomato & basil soup, the seabass and monkfish. but the other food was excellent too. In fact I am sure that Gordon Ramsay would be very impressed with the food too!! I was that complimentary that they brought out the chef to talk to us as I wanted to pass on my gratitude for a lovely meal.
I must admit that I am a bit of a complainer if the service, room or food is not to my satisfaction but I really could not fault them at all with anything as I was 100% happy with everything.
If you want comfortable, welcoming and warm surroundings with excellent friendly service, I strongly recommend this hotel.
Since Caroline & Jonathan have taken over this hotel since June this year, they have taken to running the hotel like a duck to water. It would look like they have been running it for years.
They run this hotel with such passion and proffessionalism and treat their guests very well and look after them with a no trouble at all attitude, always.
They were great with our 2 kids and recommended the Car museum in Keswick which they loved and also the Beatrix Potter museum which was great for the family.
When we left the hotel, we looked at the wonderful comments that were in the visitors book and I would say they echo exactly what I have said in this review and well deserved too.
I will certainly be coming here again as I have now found a hotel that I would not be disappointed in and I must say to Caroline & Jonathan, Well done and congratulations on a successful business that will be there for many years to come!!
Regards Joe, Uzma, Adam & Zahra

Lovely old house, set back off the main Windermere-Bowness Road. Comfortable beds, clean and well supplied bathrooms. Jonathan and Caroline are recent owners and are working their tails off to make everyone feel at home - we wish them every success. Breakfasts are plentiful with an excellent variety. After a long day sightseeing, its nice to come back to relax in the lounge, bar and in house restaurant. The standard and quality of the food was excellent.

We've been coming to this hotel on and off for a number of years now and has recently been taken over (for third time) by a new dynamic couple with a vision to restoring the family/friendly feel that the hotel orginally had when we started going there.
The food is excellent although the al carte menu might not suit everyone and there is only one vegetarian option which meant we ate out most evenings.
The room (Orrest Head) was large/clean/tidy and comfortable although the beautiful old windows require some senstive restoration so they can be closed properly, (an issue winter guests might have).
The couple have only been at the Cedar Manor for 9 weeks and they've already begun making minor changes to make it their own but all very tastefully done.
The only slight problem with Cedar Manor is that when full, the car parking can bit a bit of a squeeze , but this and the veggi option are the only slight criticisms in an otherwise lovely hotel in a lovely area.

“Absolutely Lovely Hotel loved it (from shirl & Steve)”

We have just returned from 1 night stay at The Cedar Manor. I booked this Hotel for my partners birthday for a romantic getaway on recommendation. We absolutely enjoyed our stay despite the awful weather but i couldnt wish for a better hotel. We stayed in the Claife Heights room which was small but lovely and clean. We had an ensuite shower room which they provided bottles of shower gels, shampoo and even cotton wool and cotton buds! The bathroom was clean with nice white clean fluffy towels.
The room itself was small but it was spotlessly clean. There was a mini fridge when you opened the wardrobe with bottles of water provided. In the drawers of the wardrobe was a needle and cotton set and even shoe polish, which is a first i have ever seen..the bed was very comfortable and we had a lovely night sleep.
The Hotel is set in lovely grounds and my partner was well impressed with the original windows and the oldy worldy rooms with original features.
Also its not far for a walk to Bowness. Its a lot longer to walk to the lake in Windermere so be prepared for the uphill walk back!
We ate at the Lighthouse Restaurant in the town for Lunch which was so nice we returned later at night for Dinner. The restaurant is upstairs and the food was lovely and would recommend for anyone to try.
The breakfast in the Hotel was lovely, hot and enjoyed every bit.

I would most definately be coming back to stay again and would definately recommend anyone to stay at this Hotel.
