Not being to the Lake District before I had no idea where to stay. I spent many hours scrolling the internet and eventually settled on this hotel, what a great choice I made!! The hotel itself was absolutely lovely and we had a very large deluxe room with views of the garden and on a clear day you could see the lake (room 211). We only stayed B&B but all the other guests were commenting how good the dinner was, our breakfast was out of this world! It was a very relaxing hotel and tended to be more of the mature generation which suited us as we wanted no hassle. I personally feel that this hotel is of a standard more than a 3 star hotel and would definitely go back again!

PS There was also plenty of parking!!

“good food, shame about the room location”

We booked a romantic weekend break, to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary. The website we booked through offered complimentary upgrade to a room with lake view or garden view. (subject to availability) That was the get out clause, what we actually got was a twin bedded (we booked a double) room overlooking the car park above the kitchen. When we complained to the management , we were told yes we had booked a double, but there were no other rooms available so they would zip the beds together. We were asked to wait in the lounge while they did this, they didnt even offer us a cup of tea. However our stay was further marred by the constant noise from the kitchen, and daily deliveries throughout the day. There was also and a steady stream of staff sitting outside the kithchen smoking. The food and service from the staff was excellent and made our stay, however the attitude of the management was not, an apology would of been nice. This was not even offered or any attempt to move us when another room became free. Idont think we will be in a hurray to go back.

I stayed at the Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel for two nights just recently. I booked quite late so got a good deal. I had a double room which I think was superior or it seemed to be. The hotel is beautiful and the hotel grounds are wonderful with delightful views of lake Windermere. My room had a raised area in front of the window so when I had breakfast in my room I sat and looked out at the views of the garden and the lake and it was the most tranquil, wonderful setting. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel spotlessly clean. Housekeeping staff friendly and polite.
However the most enjoyable part of my stay was the six course dinner which I had on my first night. Although a little more than I would normally pay for dinner it was definately well worth the treat ... and we all deserve treats! The dining room is absolutely lovely. The decor and surroundings just so charming., with large windows looking out onto the rolling gardens, a grand piano sits in the room which is tastefully decorated with traditional furnishings, candlelight and fairy lights which just give the room that romantic, cosy feel (pity I was alone as my partner had decided to stay home and tile the bathroom - sadly a diy enthusiast )
The chefs recommendation of cold carrot soup/puree was without doubt totally delicious. My hot soup which followed was one of the tastiest soups ever. My main course of halibut served on a bed of asparagus with duchy potatoes was doubly delicious, with just perfect sized portions. This was followed by black chocolate tart which was obviously divine and all was presented top class. Extreme compliments to the chef!
The service of the waiters and bar staff was second to none. Totally efficient, attentive, and professional, without doubt these gentlemen are a credit to the hotel. All this made my stay most enjoyable and I cannot wait to return to Lindeth Howe. Highly recommended.

“Lovely easter break”

Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel

After reading several reviews on this hotel on this site, i decided to go ahead and book a 3 night easter surprise for my girlfriend. The first thing i must say, is that we got placed in the supposedly dreaded Room 118! after reading the review of this room my heart sank when we were taken to it by the staff. However, all the problems said about this room in particular, must have been either sorted out or were never that much of a problem to begin with. The room was quiet-there was no sound of the kitchen underneath, except for the odd bin being taken out, the room is warm but not overly so and was rectified by opening the window, which is well worth it due to the lovely views and the towel radiator in the bathroom seemed to work fine. The decor is how youd expect of an authentic country hotel and was very clean, and we found the room a lovely place to just sit or sleep and very relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom modern and clean. So in all, we have no complaints about this room at all.
Hotel: the hotel is very nice, set in a lovely location, overlooking the lake in the near distant, the gardens surrounding the hotel are immaculate and very well kept. The dining area, lounge and bar areas are very comfortable and very clean and there is enough car-park space for everyone staying there. its also about a 10-15 minute walk into the town of Bowness.
We had breakfast and the service was very friendly and the waiters and waitresses very polite, the food was very good. if we had one gripe about the hotel its a small one, in that the service for breakfast could be somewhat haphazard, there are a lot of waiters (and you will be served by all of them!) but therein lies the problem, as its obvious they have been told to sort the guests out asap, which is a good thing, but amongst themselves they dont quite always know whos done what, so one day we got asked 4 times if we wanted tea or coffee (after our order had been taken) and the next day not asked at all. It's not a major problem in itself, and obviously due to the fact that the waiters don't have a set number of tables to attend to and try to sort you out whenever they see something that needs to be done. most of the time the service was fine and i must say that the waiters and waitresses themselves were polite, kind and helpfull and nothing personal to them.
We also had a meal in the evening at the hotel, and they offer a wide range on the menu for fine dining. The whole dining experience there was lovely and the food cooked to a high standard, the setting was very relaxing and looked great with the lighting set low.
All-in-all i can thoroughly recommend this hotel, with lovely staff, lovely views and very good food. It achieved what i wanted it too which was a relaxing break in the Lake District for my girlfriend and on that basis alone, i would use again and keep in my address book!
