“Wow”

Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel

7 Jun 2008

WOW what a wonderful hotel who could ask for more. The Hotel is beautiful, the Gardens are superb, the food is amazing, and the staff cannot do enough for you.
We had some lovely weather while we were there which obviously the hotel can't provide but everything else that they did provide was first rate, we started the day with a fantastic breakfast which includes anything you want from Croissants to Full English. Then we went for a sightseeing tour on the Mountain Goat, which the hotel booked for us at our request then there was enough time to chillout before an amazing 5 course evening meal and a few drinks at the bar.
The next day we walked off our breakfast with a short walk to Bowness to have a look around the shops and a boat trip on the lake before going home feeling well relaxed and ready for anything

I took my boyfriend to Lindeth Howe as a treat for his birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were absolutely wonderful, attentive but not over fussy. The food was fantastic, the lamb my boyfriend had was the best he had ever tasted.

The room was lovely with a huge double bed and a nice view over the garden. The public rooms were airy and light, with french windows opening onto the beautiful gardens.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates a beautiful location, excellent service and fabulous food.

Alison and her staff run an excellent hotel which is well worth a visit.

“peace and tranquility in the lakes”

stayed at the Lindeth Howe hotel for a couple of days during the may bank holiday and loved every minute. Our room was on the corner of the building looking across the gardens on one side and out to the lake on the other.
The gardens are a haven of peace and tranquility, very well kept, thestaff were very proffessional and close to hand all the time and made us feel very welcome.
It is a bit more expensive than some of the hotels in the lakes but worth the extra money.
We didn't eat in the restuarant at night as [a] we do prefer going into town and [b] thought £38 a head for evening meal was to much.
The only small gripe is that the bar is pretty limited but that is really only a very tiny issue, overall great place to stay.

“Make sure you request a refurbished room!!!!”

Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel

3 May 2008

Arrived at the hotel at 4pm to be given a standard room, which had seen better days. Bed dipped in the middle and the bin in the bathroom hadn't been emptied as it was full of plug hole hairs and razors. Not one to normally complain (HONESTLY!), we had a word with reception (i think it may have been duty manager) and it became obvious that she was loath to move us to another room until we coughed up an extra £80 - apparently there were only deluxe rooms available. My partner agreed to this (believe me I wouldn't have!!) and we were duly moved to a lakeview room.
The room was a disgrace! Bed was simpy 2 singles pushed together, the headboard was 2 foot too short for heavens sake! The bedspread bellowed up with flurries of dust as we sat on it, the carpet had literally inches of dust around the edge of the room and around the bed, the bathroom floor had pubic hair lying around and to top it off, the room had a half empy bottle of water left behind by the previous occupant. Taking all this into account, I was afabsolutely furious that the member of staff we spoke to had the audacity to move us to a room which was in such a state and charge us extra for doing so. The room was dirty and dusty and i got the impression that it hadn't been occupied for some time.
With my blood boiling(!), my partner took over and this time spoke with the hotel manager who in contrast to her colleague, dealt with the matter wonderfully. Having asked for a room, at the original price, which was clean and habitable, we were moved to the room next door which we were informed was recently refurbished. The room was clean and fresh and the decor lovely. The mananger seemed genuinly concerned at the state of the room and impressed on us the fact that this was not typical of the hotel. I got the feeling it wouldn't be happening again.
Staff were wonderful, manager is a credit to the hotel, duty manager needs to learn some people skills!
Overall, despite a rocky start, we would recommend this hotel, but make sure you requst a refurbished room. It's often the case that even at the best hotels you might encounter an issue....it's the way the staff handle these issues which dictates whether the hotel is actually worth its salt, and i'm pleased to say, that lindeth passed muster.

We have just returned from our honeymoon, where we stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, between Christmas and New Year. It was perfect! The room had the most beautiful view of the Lake and was very luxurious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We ate in the restaurant for the 3 nights, and again it was lovely. It was a relaxing end to each day with fantastic service, and again friendly staff who were always on hand to assist you. The food was amazing, both at dinner and breakfast.

I would describe the hotel as cosy and homely and a perfect location for a honeymoon. I can't really find a fault at all!!
