We booked a three night stay at the Rosemount in Windermere, The room lacked a high standard of cleanliness ie, cracked basin in bathroom and mould on the shower head.
The first night was quiet, however a little cold overnight due to lack of heating in the room. Breakfast was cooked well and ample.
However the second night was disappointing. We arrived back to the Rosemount after a long day walking, to find a private function in full swing in the breakfast room directly opposite our bedroom. Although this finished just after 11 o'clock, it had disturbed our rest and sleep.
The following morning we were woken at 7.50 to the sound of drum practice in a room directly under our bedroom.
After discussing our experience with the owners they were apologetic, but did not understand our experience or seem to value our custom.
We decided to cut our stay short and checked out that day.

The bathroom sink did indeed have a hairline crack and it will be replaced. By the time I read the review and checked the shower, the shower head was clean so I can only apologise if the guest found it otherwise. They did not mention the problem to me at any time. I feel (because they mentioned it to me) that the unexpected noise was the main problem they had with Rosemount. The eight-year-old playing with drums at 7:50 am is obviously a nightmare - it was the first time she had done anything like that at that time in the morning and so again I can only apologise. The "social function in full swing" was a small wine tasting which we hold once a year for the local primary school's Friends Association. It was poorly attended, ironically, and was over by 10:45pm. I have to admit I was unaware that the guests had already returned to their (large, king-sized bedded) room on the ground floor. I should have closed the door to the dining room where the event was being held and this was an oversight, but I was unaware there had been any problems for any guest until the following morning when the gentleman who wrote this review pointed it out to me. I did apologise, but I take issue with the assertion that I "did not understand our case". I did completely understand their case, but after the event it was hard to see what I could do. I begged the complainant to give us another chance (they were booked in for three nights) but they wished to check out after this, their second night. It may be that I should not have charged them for the night about which they complained. I would be happy to offer them a half-price stay in another of our rooms any time they would like.
