“very poor rooms and service”

Whitewater Hotel & Leisure Club

30 Apr 2008

Stayed over for 2 days in April 2008.
Not a pleasant experience and very expensive for the small room (£125 b b). You could not swing a cat in the room. small and dingy with a noisy , busy and dangerous road nearby.(fatality that weekend). No maid service on the sunday ( they forgot). When pointed out no maids available to sort ...so no clean towels, bed unmade ,no loo rolls not cleaned etc. JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. NOT RECOMMENDED.

“The Whitewater?????”

Whitewater Hotel & Leisure Club

9 Apr 2008

We stayed at The Whitewater for the occasion of a Wedding............There were both good bits and bad bits! In brief......the Wedding itself was fabulous....................3 Course Meal was top notch (and not pre-booked may I add......We were allowed to choose 1 of 3 Dishes per course on the Day SO top marks to the Chef here) Food was Excellent and the Manager for the Day (who had previously worked in Norwich) Didn't get his name was BRILLIANT! His attention to detail re: Bride/Groom & Wedding Party was the Business.......Well done you! Duty Manager Beatrice.........Excellent!!!!! George Night Manager.........Fantastic an absolute Diamond!!!!!!! THE BAD BITS: Reception on arrival............FROSTY! First Room just not up to standard and wanted a damn good clean!!!!!! (Human hairs on bedspreads and dust everywhere do not just "do it" for me!!!! SECOND ROOM.............................OK and acceptable however..............after further inspection.........................HAIRS in the Bathroom..................Toilet didn't flush properley...........DUST everywhere (as in Housekeeping couldn't be bothered to pull out the furniture and clean which showed on the burgundy carpet) Broken cabinet AND Horror of ALL......................SLIPPERS under the bed......................covered in dust (like 2 months old)???????
NOT much I suppose but could have been worse but if you are going to CLEAN........PLEASE do it properly!!!!!!Bath Panel falling out etc etc........................BUT this Hotel is BEAUT for views and location honest.............it is the business...............Leisure Club is Fab...................Fantastic Hairdresser...................HOUSEKEEPING????? With respect you need to have a serious reality check here!!!!!!! Have filled in a Customer Comment form and let's see if we get a reponse?????? All in all................Thanks J & J for a fab time AND B & G you ARE the Business!!!!!!

Booked a four night stay short notice and saw a couple of the reviews before we left which made me wonder if the hotel would be ok. The hotel is old and lovely. Food was great, room huge and spacious. We were given an upgrade to a river view room with spa bath, pobably because hotel was quiet.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and took time to ensure our every need was met.
Sauna, pool etc for winding down and comfy lounge to relax in for a drink after a lovely dinner.
We certainly didn't need any more .

I work in travel and hotel surroundings were lovely........the rooms in the hotel were of a high standard too.
If you need to use your mobile you would have problems you have to drive 5 mins up hill before you can get a signal.

“Not good for business”

I have just spent a few days at the Whitewater on a business trip. I would not recommend generally for business travellers as it has very poor telecommunications. The mobile phone signal is non-existent, which makes picking up work calls difficult, but more importantly makes ringing home without using the hotel phone, an impossibility. I had to drive up the road to get a signal. Also no sign of a broadband connection in the room, or indeed by wireless. In general more of a package tour type of hotel for older clientele.
