The pictures of the hotel are very decieving. Driving towards it there was a wow factor, upon walking in it smelt fusty and dirty.

Our room was nice and the veiw was great, out bathroom was not great the spa bath had a scum line around it and the panel has hanging off and the other end of the panel was rotten.

Our meal was ok, but no atmosphere in restaurant, no music and they were short staffed everytime we went in. There were very little staff around the hotel and we always had to ask to be served by reception at the bar.

It is miles from anywhere so you need a car.

The view was great tho

Stayed with my family for one night. The hotel is set in the most picturesque of surroundings and in a nice quiet retreat. It was disappointing to arrive and be told that due to a wedding reception taking place you could only use certain bars at certain times and that the restaurant opening times were being reduced. We decided to eat in the Fisherman's Bar, the patio area was disgusting, dirty tables, floor littered with rubbish with the smell of the kitchen wafting out over you. We decided to move inside where the bar manager was moaning about all and sundry in the hotel, whether it be the manager or his fellow bar staff. His manner and tone was verging on being rude when he dealt with the public, this was endorsed by people sitting near us. We moved to the back of the bar, when the food arrived the adult meals were acceptable but the kids meals were unedible. How you can manage to burn pizza and garlic bread and serve them is beyond me. The bar lady agreed that they were unacceptable and removed them from the bill. It was a shame because everywhere else in the hotel is very good, whether it be the staff or the facilities. What was also disappointing was that despite filling in the Customer Satisfaction proforma nobody has bothered to make contact with me from the hotel.

“Lovely hotel that is let down by the food”

Whitewater Hotel & Leisure Club

This was my second time to stay here so I was looking forward to a return visit, the hotel is situated in a great spot with lovely views.

The reception area is small but you get a very friendly welcome, we had booked two executive rooms, it is not a modern place but the rooms are decorated in keeping with the style of the hotel and they were spotless, nice big rooms with a lovely view over the river. Bathrooms were really clean with lovely toiletries, a well stocked mini bar and a tv with a built in DVD player.

All of the staff are very pleasent and the fishermans bar does good bar food however the standard of food in the restaurant has declined dramatically since our original vist. The menus is promising enough but it doesn't deliver, poor presentation, overcooked meat and veg that had been cooked hours before and blasted in the microwave, it was a real dissapointment. The wine list was also very limited.

Breakfast was another disappointment, the freshly squeezed orange juice was not! The fruit salad was from tins and it was laid out in a dark corner at the back of the room.

As we were on a three night stay package for DB&B this obviously had an effect on how much we enjoyed ourselves.

They have a nice health club attached with some lovely beauty rooms, it is in a beautiful place and they have some lovely staff so its a shame they let themselves down on the food, for this reason we would not return.

“a big disappointment”

We stayed in apartment number 10, which is part of a timeshare programme. We had been promised a five star luxury accommodation and we found ourselves in a 3-star, dirty hotel.
The bar and restaurant were dirty and smelled badly; food was mediocre. The water in the pool was very cold, apparently they were trying to save the environment - at the expenses of my children who got ill after spending 20 minutes in the water. Service is simply appalling: on our departure day, at 10.15am (we were supposed to leave at 10am), two men just entered the room using the hotel keys and not bothering knocking, stormed into the room without even greeting us and starting taking things away that they needed for another room. We made it clear that we did not appreciate the intrusion and they did not even apologise. All in all, an awful and disappointing experience - far from the relaxing, pampering week we had been promised.

we stayed over the xmas period on a package and we were given a room overlooking the river. The room was warm and with wall to wall carpet and thick lined curtains. The bathroom was well maintained and was clean. The food was very good with a good choice and you were not overfilled with vegetables and the service was good.At times the lounge bar was not always staffed and sometimes you had to get someone to serve you,but of course there was always the fishermans bar downstairs. The web site does not really do it justice as you have to see how it has been converted into a hotel. We picked this hotel as a result of viewing other hotel reviews in this price range and this seemed to come out the best.Overall we enjoyed it as it was our first christmas away and we were not disappointed with it.The only critisism we had was that it is a pity the cleaners cannot see above head height as there was a cobweb in our room and dust on the lampshades. All the staff were hard working and were very pleasant especially max the duty manager.Forgot to mention cascades leisure centre, use it while you are there it is excellent.
