“enjoyable relaxing break”

21 The Lakes

After reading a few of the reviews I was a little apprehensive about what to expect from the hotel even after hearing good reviews from work friends who've stayed there. Any reservations I had were soon quashed though as we found the hotel, our room in particular very nice. Both receptionists were very friendly and only too eager to help. Our stay wasn't without a little problem... on our 1st night we couldn't get any hot water from the shower, we weren't overly bothered tho as the large jaccuzzi bath was a novel change from a shower. This problem was sorted the next day by the maintenance man after mentioning it to the receptionist.

Our room as I've said was very nice and cosy, the 4 poster bed was really comfortable, tv was good the tv in the bathroom was a nice feature and the outside hot-tub was very relaxing set in your own small private garden.

Our only complaint when checking out was that on our last morning we had no hot water from the shower, jaccuzzi bath or sink, when we mentioned this to the reception they were full of appologies and knocked the charge off the breakfast room service (which in it's self is a nice added bonus getting a good choice of breakfast brought to your room)

All in all £240 for 2 nights in Windermere, £4.50 for 8 cans of Warstiener... drinking those cans in the hot-tub in the snow...
PRICELESS!!!

We stayed at 21 The Lakes on the 15th Feb as a Valentine treat for my husband and I. I found it on the internet and liked all the unusual rooms and booked the Contempary suite- which according to their website was voted the most romantic hotel room in Britain!!
After I booked it I checked out this website and was gutted to find mixed reviews, but my husband said we should give it a chance.
We got there about half six and as we had booked to eat in the restaurant had to decide on check in what we wanted to eat, whixh I thought was a bit unusual!! When we got to the room we found that they had given us the wrong one and we had to move, but the staff were nice and very apologetic about it.
The room itself was lovely with a huge spa bath and massage bed. It was clean and had everything we needed.
The meal in the restarant was delicious and I would recommend eating there. Breakfast next morning was delivered to our room and there was a wide choice.
The one little niggle I had was that when we checked out the next morning there were no staff around and we were left standing at reception for ages!!
I would stay at 21 Th Lakes again and would like to try one of the other rooms.

“Overall a very nice stay”

My Fiance and I booked 21 The Lakes for a much needed break from our very young children, prior to looking at the reviews on Trip Advisor and so we were a bit apprehensive as many were very negative, however we were not dissapointed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Wastwater Suite. The gentleman on reception was very helpfull indeed. We cannot comment on breakfast as we did not get up for it!!
Only downside and it is a very small thing is that we borrowed 2 dvd's (which we never got around to watching) from a very small poor selection and we were very suprised to be charged £3.50 (2nd one was borrowed for free!!!) for the privelage! Blockbuster dont even charge that for new releases! Anyway as i said a small thing but was put out as had just spent £260 for 2 nights and as we both work in a 3 star Hotel with leisure complex and do not charge our guests to loan DVD's as it is included in the rate.
Overall a lovely stay.

Stayed in 21 the lakes last Summer for my aniversary.
My wife thought the web site looked excellent and we looked forward to the stay very much.
Stayed in the Grasmere Suite
On arrival we were shown to our lovely room with our own patio and own enterance.
All seemed ok, the room seemed very nice with its own hot-tube
It wasn't the room or the venue as such, it was the fact that we had staff outside around the corner smoking as we left for breakfast, which really cheapend the place.
It wasn't what you would expect from that type of establishment
The was no smiley greeting and seemed really cold, it lacked personality.
The was no personal touches that you would expect.
Breakfast was buffet, but no real choice
Was it worth the money? no way!!

21 The Lakes is non smoking, the fact that you say you saw staff outside your room smoking is unusual at this or anytime of day. Any staff on duty at the time you went for breakfast would be helping with the breakfast service. The room stayed in does open onto a shared drive, and is not owned by ourselves, and guests from our establishment and others in the area do sometimes stand in the drive for a cigarette.
We are surprised that you felt there was little choice for breakfast, we do offer a good selection, cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, yogurts, croissants, choice of cooked breakfast, toasts etc.

“loved the room”

21 The Lakes

Had a lovely 3 night stay, and a much needed rest.

The room was lovely (we stayed in the mini regal suite) and the bath was fantastic; it was so deep I needed to use the step to help me in. The room had a fire which used ecologs (perhaps the 1st one should be on the house as a nice gesture to your clients). I also think it would benefit from having double glazing as the room was a bit cold.

The staff were mostly brilliant: really friendly and very genuine people who were always ready to help if you needed them. The breakfast was to-die-for: my husband and I couldn't believe our eyes the first morning we sat down for breakfast.

We used the leisure club at the nearby hotel which was never over crowded (although we did bump into someone we hadn't seen for over 5 years) but when we asked the man on the desk at 21 The Lakes if we could use the leisure club on our departure day he came up with a lame excuse that he "wasn't licenced" on departure day.

However all in all we had a great time and would definately go back again and maybe try another room or the cabin in the garden.

Thank You.
