We took a gamble and booked this place for two nights for our mini-honeymoon.
It was recommended to me by someone on another forum but when I read the TA reviews I got very nervous. As I'd already paid a non-refundable deposit we decided we'd make the best of it.
We stayed in Premier Room 8. When I called to book I specifically asked if the hot tub area was private and I was assured it was. Well, I can confirm other people's comments that it really isn't. Yes, there is some reed screening but if we can see into the car park area then surely people outside can see in. As it was we didn't use it anyway because it was simply too cold. Also, the green slime on the deck surrounding the tub totally put us off. Because it isn't totally covered over the winter weather had caused significant damp and icky stuff.
The room itself was nice but a bit tired if you looked carefully. The door to the room kept getting stuck, the wardrobe door didn't close properly and the tiles on the floor in the miniscule bathroom were loose.
There were no instructions on how to work the jacuzzi bath so after much fiddling with the buttons we gave up and just turned it off. We felt the bubbles were too forceful but we didn't seem to be able to turn them down.
The bed is a 4 poster with white linen curtains velcroed on. The mattress was very soft (nowhere near posurpedic as promised on the website) and we kept rolling into the middle. First night I hardly slept at all because I kept having to hang onto the side! Also IT IS SO BLOOMING HIGH OFF THE FLOOR. Now, I realise that at 5'3 I am not the tallest person in the world, but neither am I the shortest. Having to take a slight running jump to get into bed was really not very funny. Getting out of bed and having the wooden surround bang you in the back of the legs was quite painful.
Breakfast is served in quite a small room but we never had a problem getting seated because we were up early each morning with things to do. I thought the choice was a bit limited with a few cereals, a couple of yoghurts and some hot food. I'm not a breakfast person though so perhaps take that with a pinch of salt.
The staff we met were friendly.
Overall, we had an OK time but to justify £130 per night they'd have to go much, much further. They are attempting to be designer boutique but not managing it. I wish we had stayed somewhere else as I had high hopes for the place at that price.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Premier Room 8 is a very poplular room with a high level of occupancy, as our most of our rooms.
We do not advertise or assure customers that any of the outdoor hot tub areas as being private. We only advertise & advise that they are for your own personal use.
The decking area for this room is cleaned on a daily basis and has never had any green slime.
All rooms have information folders with instructions on how to operate the spa baths and all rooms do have the posdurepedic mattresses. The bed in this room is normal height and as with all wooden four posters it has the normal wooden frame.
We are surprised you found the breakfast choice limited, we offer a choice of cerals, fruit juices, fresh fruit salad, grapefruit segments, prunes, selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts, crossiants, cooked breakfast which includes the usual bacon, sausage, egg, mushroom, tomato, hash browns followed by toast with preserves. There is also champagne available for those who want it.
When you consider that for the cost, a room that has a large aqua spa massage bath, an outdoor hot tub as well as tea & coffee, TV etc, to be good value for money.
