“Lovely Retreat”

Ivythwaite Lodge hotel

The Ivythwaite is a lovely, quiet guesthouse. It is in a road off the main Windermere to Bowness route and apart from being opposite a little junior school it is very quiet. As the name suggests externally the house is covered with ivy which lends to a lovely picture. We stayed in room 3 which has a four poster bed and spa bath or air bath as it is called. The bath is large big enough for two and it has a very good shower over the bath. It is nice and certainly of a standard that one would expect in the Lake District if perhaps in need of some repainting in the bathroom and maybe some updating but this is the style of the guest house so anything contemporary and modern would not feel right. The room itself is moderate in size and is decorated to oldy world style with antique furniture and a lovely four poster bed that is roomy and comfy. One criticism if that is the right word is that the floor boards in the house are creaky and this can be a little off putting when you are trying to sleep also you cannot use the baths after 1030pm or befor 8am because they make a noise obviously but somethimes people do use them after this time and this can be noisy. Wendy one of the owners is lovely, very welcoming showing you the room and asking if you need anything, i have a feeling that nothing would be too much trouble. The breakfasts are great, cooked for those who wish to eat heartily and a lovely fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts and toast for those who like a lighter bite. The ivythwaite is a lovely place to stay and i can only imagine it will get even better with time. Thank you for a nice stay Wendy.

We had the absolute best time. They certainly went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had a wonderful time. The rooms were fantastic, and the staff was brilliant. We were getting married that weekend, and they helped us out with several tasks and gave us what I would consider 'specialty treatment' on many occassions. Anything we needed, they would provide for us without hesitation and without extra charge - it was just perfect. I would definately go back again. Anyone going will not be disappointed.

Me and my partner went last summer for 2 nights for a romantic getaway and ivythwaite lodge was PERFECT!
The jacuzzi was a perfect way to unwind from the stresses of work. The owners are fantastic and extremely friendly. Breakfast was divine and set us up for day. I would highly recommend this guest house to anybody looking to stay in the lakes.

We stayed at Ivythwaite for our honeymoon and having looked at reviews of other local hotels we obviously got lucky. The staff/owners were all extremely friendly and helpful, and the room was excellent, and had a great jacuzzi. Unlike other hotels we've stayed in, we found the accommodation to be exactly as advertised. The food was excellent too, with a charming breakfast room. The hotel was everything we had hoped for for our honeymoon, and we hope to return soon. We would both be staggered to ever read a bad review of this hotel, we can not recommend Ivythwaite Lodge highly enough!!

Lovely room, four poster and jacuzzi bath. Good breakfast (hot!) with really nice bacon and local food. Relaxed host. One tiny tiny criticism is that we could have done with coat-hooks on a door for our wet coats. But a really nice, relaxed stay. Will visit again.
