this MUST be the best small hotel in the lake district
I've stayed there many times and would not consider moving anywhere else when on holiday in the lake district
Very friendly service
top quality rooms, well appointed and exceptional breakfasts

great situation, easy walking into both windermere and bowness
very underpriced for the quality of residence and food
YOu MUST stay here

Thanks for your informative review. I think this is the sort of information potential guest require. As you have pointed out we are ideally situated midway between the villages of Windermere and Bowness (about 10 minutes walk).

The lake, boats etc are accessed in Bowness Bay whereas the train/bus station is located in Windermere.

We always try to offer good value for money. We believe that quality doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a weekend at St John's Lodge. We found the room to be spotlessly clean and very comfortable although the shower room was a little small. The breakfast menu was so fabulous that we will have to go back to try the other choices.

Bathroom sizes do vary a little depending on the standard of the room. We actually offer four grades of room: Premium, Standard plus, standard and economy. We try to appeal to all budgets.

I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay and in particular the breakfasts. I look forward to tempting you with more dishes from our new 2008 menu.

Last weekend four of visited the Lake District and stayed at St. John's Lodge, Windermere. We received a very friendly welcome, the accomodation was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were delicious.

This place is a real gem,set within easy walking distance of both Winderemere and Bowness both of which are full of character.St Johns Lodge is a clean and very comfortable base for the many varied attractions and pursuits that the lake district has to offer,couple this with the amazing choice that is offered for breakfast,every dietry need seems to be catered for and the portions means that nobody leaves hungry!Finally the friendliness of Barry,Sue and their staff ensure that a stay at St Johns is a real pleasure and one that my wife and I hope to repeat in the future

This was a lovely place. I chose it because of its friendliness towards vegetarian visitors and i wasn't disappointed. What a choice of breakfasts and at no extra cost !
