Having just read the previous review I wonder if I was at the same hotel.!!
We arrived on Good Friday and effortlessly passed through reception to our Classic Room with courtyard view. The room was fine, warm and well lit.
We had an array of toiletries, repalced daily and were supplied with a menu and details of amenities at the hotel.
The TV had a number of channels and was fine.
The bed was massive - 6 feet square and very comfortable.
We had booked for the restaurant on Friday evening and were not disappointed.
The food was excellent and service impeccable - A really great night. So much so I left the waiter a generous tip - I generally do not tip at all unless the service exceeds what I expect.
I think the set price of £32 is a little expensive. Wine was reasonably priced for a hotel.
The lounge/bar for after dinner drinks was lovely but lacked in atmosphere. Some kind of entertianment should be provided. It does feel a bit like a library.
It does have fantastic views over Lake Windermere though.
Breakfast the next day was buffet style, plentiful and warm. So what if you have to make your own toast - At least it will be warm.
We enjoyed it.
We didn't have dinner in the restaurant on Satrurday night but went for drinks at the Cafe Del Lago next to the hotel. Again a bit quiet but one of the staff played the guitar and sang. The bad news here was that he couldn't sing. He will not be winning Xfactor that's for sure.
The Italian restaurant looked OK and food appeared reasonably priced.
Breakfast the next day was as good as previously experienced.
We would definitely stay here again, it is ideally placed to see the lakes and other visitor attractions.
