ideally located just a short walk from windermere within well kept gardens. welcomed by a beautiful reception with constant burning fire and coffee/tea on arrival makes this such an inviting place to stay.the internal decor is of a very high standard and continues into the rooms where nothing is forgotten down to cotton buds. the entire hotel is superbly clean and of very high taste and quality. The upvc sash windows and flat screen tvs are a credit to this obviously dedicated family ,who treat their hotel as their own home. Our only disappointment was at breakfast. Whilst everything is perfectly executed and the breakfast itself is of very high quality we found this time to be less than relaxing. I hope we can be constructive by suggesting that plates arent removed from the table immediately after swallowing your last mouthful. We hope that this does not offend but if there was a little less haste guests may feel less rushed, making this the perfect place to stay in Windermere.Thank you.

Just returned from a wonderful 4 night stay in the Willowsmere. There were 6 in our group aged from my 89 yr old mother to my 17 yr old daughter and we all enjoyed it. The guest house is perfect for the elderly or disabled with a purpose built room with bathroom on the ground floor. Great location perfect base for touring, going on hill walks etc. Small town of Windemere a 5 - 10 min walk away. Everything spotlessly clean , lovely garden , great breakfast and very good value .

“Way Above and Beyond Great -- Really Lovely B&B!”

The Willowsmere is a really warm, quiet and truly lovely place to stay! It is a beautifully decorated, small and inviting inn with loads of authentic English history and charm, friendly and helpful service, and an unbeatable location to explore the Lake District. It's a very pretty 5-10 minute walk from the Windermere Train Station (which was especially important to us) and a very close walk to the lake (Windermere) itself. Our four-poster en suite room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with quality furniture, linens and decoration, and with many cosy, personal touches. We had a sweet overhead view of the lovely, colorful back garden, which, like the building itself, is meticulously maintained. (Kudos to the gardener!!) But more than all the amenities that one would think to plan or hope for, we were sincerely touched by the kindess and generousity of the owners, themselves. We needed extra help due to an accidental injury that occurred during our stay in the Lakes, and both Martin and Sue, the owners of the inn, went well out of their way to give us assistance. These are very caring, thoughtful, smart people, and we are extremely grateful, not only for our memories of the beautiful inn, its service and the wonderful presence of the Lake District area, but for the voluntary, personal help lended to us during our stay by the Willowsmere owners and staff. (Thanks so much, Martin and Sue!) -- Eileen and Neville, May 2007.

“Great hotel, friendly owners”

The Willowsmere

13 Nov 2006

A great hotel to stay in at at Windermere. The owners were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was very good. The room we stayed in was a good size and the ensuite bathroom was very large, only suggestion would be that they upgrade the shower to a power shower (just missed an excellent rating).

The hotel has a large family room with tv, nice gardens outside to relax in, and a very welcoming sitting room with a fireplace.

The hotel is located about half a mile or so from the main town and its a bit of an uphill walk but nothing most people cant handle. Food wise theres not much about in Windemere, the Queenhead pub does well price hearty meals upstairs. Your best to drive to Bowness about a mile away where the majority of the tourist restaurants are located, though some are very pricey.

We booked a late booking and got a special price for nov, recommended hotel.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Disliked — Showers could do with upgrading.
    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Bowness for dining, dont bother with Windermere unless your drinking and walking back to the hotel.
