We have returned from a recent trip to Windermere and the lakes and a stay at the wonderful Denehurst Guest House. Ken and Cindy are absolutely the finest hosts that you could wish for. It was my wife's Birthday, and with a bit of forward planning (at VERY late notice by me), they came up trumps with flowers, a booked restaurant and even a card at breakfast, a lovely touch. Their restaurant recommendations shouldn't be ignored, they know what they are talking about.

They helped us with a walking route in the hills (the cake stop walk, must not be missed!) and even acted as a Taxi service into Windermere one Rainy evening (thanks Ken!), all in all, they made the experience of our short stay very homely and enjoyable. They offered so many pointers and suggestions for our stay and really helped us to get the most out of our stay.

The morning Cumbrian Breakfast is simply EPIC, but make sure you work up an appetite with a decent walk each day! The room we had was a superior double:- very clean, very comfortable and well appointed, just what we needed and more, great en suite!

All in all the Denehurst Guest House was brilliant, a home away from home, and made for a relaxing and welcome retreat for our break away to the lakes. Ken and Cindy are superstars;hosts without equal in our opinion. Book here, avoid disappointment!!

Staying at Denehurst feels like coming home. We are always guaranteed a warm welcome, exceptional service and comfortable surroundings. Ken and Cindy are truly gifted hoteliers providing just the right amount of attention and space. All their recommendations for walks, cafes and restaurants have become firm favourites of ours. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They truly make you feel like part of the family. The organic porridge is exceptional! Ken and Cindy are two of the nicest people you will ever meet!

Just come back from a wonderful one night stay at Denehurst and had to write a review (something I've never done before!).

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Ken with complimentary fresh cafeteire coffee and biscuits which I thought was a lovely touch.

I booked a four poster for my Mum and Dad and a twin room for single occupancy for me (they only charged £10 supplement for this). The rooms are beautifully decorated and light and airy. The beds are really comfortable and our rooms had TV/DVD, coffee & tea making facilities, shampoo and conditioner (very rare to get conditioner), cotton wool, mints and boiled sweets, fluffy bathrobes, hairdryer. They really have thought of everything and the amenities provided felt more like you were staying in a 4* hotel than a B&B.

The breakfast selection was wonderful - eggs benedict, homemade waffles, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or full english breakfast using locally sourced ingredients. Felt very spoilt!

You would think that all these extras means that the B&B is more pricier than others in the area but surprisingly this is not the case at all.

Ken and Cindy are very warm, welcoming hosts who are passionate about the area. They gave us loads of information which ensured our two day stay was packed with the best highlights of the area.

This is certainly the nicest B&B I've stayed in - a true gem!

We enjoyed our two days' stay at Denehurst which is conveniently located between Bowness and Windermere and easy to find. Ken and Cindy, the owners, were very welcoming and greeted us with a nice tea when we arrived after a long drive.

The room was clean and simply furnished, with a cute teddy bear on the bed. There are some very nice decor touches throughout the house, such as a giant Peter Rabbit soft toy on the landing and easy to read books and magazines at various nooks and crannies.

As for our room, we had the room on the top floor with a sloping ceiling - it's a bit small and you have to avoid hitting your head on the ceiling. The plumbing is a bit noisy at night as the restored house is quite old, but this was not a big deal - generally everything was comfortable and clean.

Ken is very knowledgeable about all types of walks around the Lake District and can tailor them to your level of stamina and physical fitness. Cindy's a great cook and whips up a mouthwatering scrambled eggs with salmon! We really enjoyed our stay with them.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Denehurst guest house in april for 2 nights, we stayed in the four poster bedroom and all the extra touches such as the bathrobes, nice tolietries and complimentary water made it all we could ever want and more. Ken and Cindy were perfect hosts and their breakfasts were to die for. The guest living room is just full of information for all, including a guide to all the good restuarants nearby It was only a 10-15 minute walk to Lake Windermere and Bowness. All in all a perfect B n B in terms of location, room comfort, service received and the condition of the B n B.
