We visited for our little honeymoon holiday and could not have picked a better place. Even though we took our 3 year old little girl it was still very romantic and it was the guest house that made it feel like this. The rooms were very tidy and clean and the breakfasts were excellent, catering for individual choice. The setting was perfect, peaceful but still close enough to all the attractions, shops and resturants. We will be going back for sure. Thanks Caroline and David

We stayed here for the weekend in July 2007, & were very impressed.
We had an awful drive up to the Lakes, & had been stuck in traffic jams which meant we arrived later than we would have liked. However, Vince was very welcoming, & even offered us a drink when it must have been passed his bedtime!
We stayed in the Victorian room (I forget the name) on the first floor. It was very cosy, with a nice comfy four poster bed & en-suite bathroom.
At breakfast, we had a lovely table overlooking the garden, where we were entertained by the different birds feeding outside. The food was delicious.
Vince gave us lots of helpful advice about where to visit & directions.
We really felt that they went out of their way to ensure that we had a good time, & that nothing was too much bother.
Do try & stay here if you are in the area, it's well worth it!

I stayed with Vince and Shirley Byrne for three nights, and was made to feel completely at home. My ensuite double room was more than comfortable and well appointed, and I found myself looking forward to breakfast every morning! I couldn't resist the full English breakfast, although the muffins and croissants were very tempting. Vince drove me into town every evening so I might have dinner, and I taxied back on my own. Town was not that far (a ten minute walk), but at this time of the year it gets dark quite early, and I would not have wanted to walk to the town of Bowness. Many, many excellent restaurants in Bowness. I went to two Chinese, and once to Gibby's (Gabby's?), where I had friendly service and great meals. Vince told me they are building another dining area, and upon completion will once again offer evening meals.

“Brilliant stay”

My girlfriend and I stayed at Storrs Gate House for two nights last weekend and we both thought it was brilliant. We stayed in room 5 which is on a floor to itself. At first I thought the room looked a bit small but my opinion changed during the stay as we found the room to be easily big enough for two. Both of the owners seemed really nice people, and were only too glad to help out if needed. It's only a 10 minute walk to the town, and there are plenty of places to eat and drink when you get there. I would definately go back.

“Absolutely wonderfull!!”

Storrs Gate House

7 Oct 2007

Well what can we say?....... we stayed in the Queen Ann four poster bed for 2 nights and well the room was more than beautiful.
Vince & Shirley Byrne who are the proprietors of the Storrsgate House keep a very warm, pleasant and welcoming house.

The breakfast was second to none although we were told by our friend to try the warm muffins and croissants we could not give up the full english breakfast for them.

Vince was away the weekend we stayed but Shirley left us in no doubt that Vince was just as warm and welcoming as she had been.
The service at breakfast was lovely and the young lady who served us was very pleasant and friendly.

We will definitely be back and next time we will maybe give the full english breakfast a miss and have the home made muffins!!.

A beautifull place and the powershower was a real god send after a long day sight seeing and taking in all the beautiful and breathtaking scenery.

A really special place to stay!!!!...........we will be back!!
