After reading the reviews on trip advisor after I booked I was little sceptical about going……. I really could not fault this place even if I tried.
The lady who greeted us on arrival was warm and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed and could not do enough for us.
The apartment was very clean, tidy and modern and also had everything which you would have at home. The location was 5minute walk from Windermere village centre and a 15-minute walk down to Bowness and the lake. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. We also had parking allocated to us and free admission to the leisure facilities at a close by hotel. It was a satisfying feeling to be able to go back to the apartment after a day out to relax. My partner and myself came back nice and refreshed.
I have already booked to go back in November and would recommend Oakdene to anyone.

The apartment was lovely, clean and felt very homely and made our stay in the lakes enjoyable due to the freedom to relax like we were in our own home.... or so we thought! We felt we were treated very rudely on the day we left. The lady who owns the property inspected it from top to toe before we left - this included complaining we'd used all of the towels that were provided (we were staying two nights), inspected under the duvet (not sure what she thought she might find),inspected the washing up (not that we were obliged to do this anyway) and complained the 2nd bedroom was used as a dressing room for myself when we were under the understanding we had paid for the use of the whole apartment and the price was inclusive even though there was only the two of us staying there. We were very disappointed by this and we will not be recommending the apartment to any of our relatives or friends nor will we be returning there again - if it wasn't for the service though we would have definitely stayed there again!

On arrival, our first impression of Oakdene was ex-council house.
But I never judge a book by it's cover and we proceeded to check in.

A group of six of us we're given a "three" bedroomed apartment. This however turned out to be one double bedroom, one twin, and a 1970's 'swingers' style pull down ( out of a wardrobe ) bed in the living room / kitchen! That combined with the tacky decor gave it the feel of a cheap porn set.
With the room feeling quite cold we decided to turn the heating up. However a sign on the boiler informed us that guests were not allowed to touch the heating! Even in October.

Later that evening approx 11.30pm the land lady came to the door and asked us to stop visiting the bathroom so frequently as the fan was keeping her awake!!!! On further inspection it was obvious that the bathroom light and fan were running off the same power supply. I obliged but informed the proprietor that she could clean up any mess from visiting the toilet in the dark.

Understandably we left first thing the following morning and cut short our three night stay. Much more pleasant accommodation was found thanks to the tourist info office.

How this establishment has achieved a four star rating is beyond me. Two star at best

Excellent location down side street but only 100 yards away from supermarket, restaurants and pubs. Very clean and spacious.
