Excellent hotel. Beautiful old building which has been kept in appropriate, traditional period style. Rooms very clean and tidy. Staff very polite and friendly. The 4 course dinner is unbeliveable - brilliant top food prepared by top chefs. Gorgeous grounds with access to the lake shore. I have stayed in many hotels in the UK and abroad and have to say this is the best hotel I have stayed at, the staff really take pride in running the hotel at a high level. We went on the midweek deal which is excellent value for money. We are definately going back!

We spent last weekend at this hotel at a friends wedding.. perfect setting, service and food.
If you are thinking of getting married in the Lake District - do not hesitate in giving them a call..
We intend to go back for a long weekend soon...

Despite the rain our 3day special commencing on Monday 23 April 2007 was fantastic. Our room overlooking the lake was wonderful, despite the bathroom being on the small side.
The food was something else,absolutely gorgeous.
The staff were always on hand to supply coffee and tea when required and they went out of their way to make you welcome.
Will definitely go again. We wish we could spend Xmas there but unfortunately we cannot.

We booked a special mid week break of 3 nights half board for £200 each. Room 1 in the original building was our room for the duration, it had a four poster bed and was extremely spacious. Roomy ensuite also. Double aspect view of Windermere Lake, clean and comfy. However........the food was AMAZING! Great breakfast and then don't eat anything until the delicious evening meal. The chef is definately
worthy of a medal as the food was perfectly cooked and so tasty. I miss it already! Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is part of a group of 3 in the area, and they all offer corporate "team building" facilities. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and did not notice the corporate groups, they are accommodated in the new part of the hotel. I would love to go back again.
