My husband and I enjoy many holidays in Cumbria each year. It is without any doubt that Fir-Trees Guest House was over and above any Hotel, Guest-House, B&B that we have ever stayed in in The Lake District.
We were welcomed by the proprietor a most pleasant lady, who took us to our 'Garden Suite' room; A joy to the senses, the room was most tastefully decorated and had everything we needed to hand. As my husband unfortunately suffers with Diabetes and is also a vegatarian of 45 years, the propreitor Bea very kindly catered to our every need. We found this very accomodating as Harry has had problems with dietary requirements on our past visits to other Hotels, Guest Houses etc.
The house is full of wonderful paintings, antiques and the most beautifully, ornate stained-glass window on the way up the stairs.
The room was exceptionally clean "always a bonus for us ladies!" Also breakfast was delicious and perfect for dear Harry. Another sweet gesture was replacing of fresh toast and tea; nothing went unnoticed. So we would have loved to have stayed another week, instead we have booked again for June 2008.
I personally have found a truly amazing Guest-House in Windermere and had to share it with others so as they can have some feed back before they stay.
