“Great place to stay”

Mylne Bridge House

Stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Mylne Bridge House, to anyone who wants a good place to stay in Windermere. Rooms very clean, well equipped and comfortable. Excellent breakfasts served to you liking. Owners Jim and Lorraine cannot do enough for you during your stay. Will definitely stay here again.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Mylne Bridge and had a fantastic time, the house has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms were exceptionally clean and had everything you needed, each room has it's own fridge which is a nice touch.
The breakfast is just fantastic (best porridge we've ever eaten) with lots of choice and nothing is too much trouble for Jim and Lorraine, we were a party of 13 and tried just about everything breakfast could offer between us, although no-one managed to get near the pancake eating record.
Overall if you're looking for a place to stay in the Lakes you will struggle to find better than Mylne Bridge - and we will be returning.

My Girlfriend and I have just returned from a short 2 night Easter break at the Mylne Bridge House B&B in Windermere, and cannot rate it highly enough. The property has been recently refurbished throughout and is very well presented. Room facilities include en-suite bathroom with shower, TV, DVD player, hairdryer, fridge (which is regulary restocked with bottled water and chocolate biscuits), and numerous guide books/leaflets of local attractions. The location is quiet but only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Windermere and a 15-20 minute walk down into Bowness.

Your host Jim is very welcoming and helpful providing you with information on local places of interest (walks, places to eat, etc), and also has an assortment of loud Hawiian shirts which he wears during breakfast, so if you have one yourself be sure to bring it and wear it during your breakfast! Jims wife Lorraine cooks a very nice full English breakfast, you can also have traditional porridge, cereals, pancakes, and toast to go with your tea/coffee/fruit juice.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return there for a similar stay in the future.

“Local flyfishing know-how”

Mylne Bridge House

21 Jan 2008

The place was great for us. We are an eclectic party of 6 flyfishermen who try a different spot in the UK each year. We got knowledgeable advice and tips from our hosts, all mixed in with a good sense of humour, excellent accommodation and tickets for some of the beautiful local trout lakes.

My husband and I have just returned from a stay a Mylne Bridge House and this was our third visit and I must say it just gets better. We initially found this little jewel through a fishing magazine (hubby is a keen fly fisherman - fishing permit subject to availability included in the price of your stay). Jim and Lorraine are genial hosts and make everyone feel more than welcome. The rooms, the breakfast, the atmosphere are all fantastic. Close to Windemere centre but off the beaten track. A lovely little public house just across the road, where you can enjoy a relaxing drink. However there is no food served (plenty of eating establishments in Windermere & Bowness - Jim usually has the low down on where to eat) and no music - a place to relax and enjoy a quiet drink. We'll be going back next year to enjoy another stay at Mylne Bridge and I personally look forward to returning to Mylne Bridge as soon as we get home! Thank you Jim & Lorraine for making our stay a good one.
