We visited Blackpool in August 2012. We chose to go to Blackpool because my mother had always gone there as a child, during holiday time and she remembered it being a great place for children. Well the rides are there, better than ever apparently but I warn you to venture at your own risk. We were warned of the "hens" parties and I thought we might see a few drunks. It was far worse than that. Just as an example, we saw a number of groups of women wearing T-shirts that had been labelled and I cannot repeat what they said.......it was obscene!! Worse than obscene. It was criminal! Especially around so many children.
I have never seen so many toothless, tattooed low-life people!
The overall level of "clientele" was in the gutter. I know that makes me sound like a snob but I'm afraid you will just have to believe me. It was of the lowest level.
There were no police in sight or security guards or anything. It appears that the authorities just turn a blind eye to the "hens women".
It's a shame because Blackpool could be such a lovely place for a family holiday if they could just clean up their act!
