We took my mum away for a 2 night stay in Blackpool as a suprise. Chose this hotel based on location and Trip Advisor reviews. I have no idea what planet the people who have raved about this B&B where on.
Found out at 1am when went to bed that bed was, despite appearances, not made. Had to spend a freezing night under a less than fresh smelling bedspread that made my skin crawl and my coat. Was rectified for the next night when we were rudely awoken by the fire alarm going off because (apparently) it is sensitive to hot showers in addition to smoke.
Rooms were in very poor decorative order with shiney yellow walls and matching un-hoovered cigarette burned carpet.
Rooms so small you could not stand side by side in them and a bathroom so small you could use the loo, have a shower and brush your teeth all without having to move an inch. Sink was the type you get in a downstairs lav and toilet was on a bizarre plynth thing.
Breakfast luke warm with nasty wannabe hotdog sausages. A disgrace in the land of the pukka Full English. Tea was good though.
In summation, a grubby establishment in need of a total refurb. There are many many fabulous B&Bs in Blackpool, this is not one of them.
Location great but don't be lured in by this and reasonable cost, spend a smidge more and go to a B&B with sheets on the bed, a proper banger on your plate and room to swing more than a gerbil in your room. Very, very, very disappointed. Complaint submitted to Expedia and being pursued.

we are very sorry to get a bad review, especially as we work very hard to keep the standard of our 3 star accreditation and we follow very closely the tourist award monitoring and recomendations... Lately our efforts have always been recognised by so many genuine good reviews. We asked ourselves what could have been the cause of such denigration not only against us but even all those previous guests with objectiv and honest views. We seem to have found the anwer in the letter of complaint of more nasty tones sent to expedia with their

request of compensation. We gave them a good offer; a similar free holiday so we could prove that our rooms are clean and warm, our fire allarm is only 2 years old and fully approved and we are very proud of our breakfast with all ingredients sourced by the same suppliers for the last 10 years. We ask our old and hope new guests not be put off by such an incident but come and try for yourselves. Yours truly, the kirkstall hotel..
