Location of reception desk terrible.....in breakfast room.
Did not enjoy breakfast , swirly sausages!! do not taste nice either, also service was terrible. Dont know wheter it was that we were Irish or that we had a child. The last day the worst , ordered breakfast , then they forgot about us, just got worse and worse
Temperature in the dining room was crazy too....hated the thought of going for breakfast actually.
Don even think of trying to get your buggy up the stairs , actually on occasion we could not get through all the cars that are parked in front of the hotel. Its was like a puzzle every evening trying to get in , weave through the cars to the front door, usually had to lift buggy over cars, terrible.
Honeymoon suite lovely (bathroom ok, should be better to match room)but with music and singing down stairs it can be quite noisy in the room, also their is a fan running all night, quite annoying

but anyway , looking for somewhere for this year, wont be going back there

JF
Having lift (for buggy)was good even though it was quite slow

I'm sorry we didn't live up to our reputation for you!! Let's go through the points you made, however. You start by saying the reception desk location is terrible? I'm at a loss to answer this one - it has to be one of the strangets complaints I have EVER had. I'm sorry you didn't like the breakfast. The "swirly" sausages are usually guests favourites. They cost twice as much as the usual mulchy ones most guesthouses serve. I love them!! You didn't mention we also offer haddock/kippers and pancakes for those that don't like a cooked breakfast.
Sorry if you got overlooked at breakfast - but as you point out reception isn't far away and you could have had a word with me. No..it's not because you're Irish. My mum was Irish...so that kind of throws that one out of the window. Buggy...I remember explaining to you that you could leave your buggy in an alcove at the foot of the stairs and that it woud be safe there. Yes - our car park is tight especially when we're busy.

Anyway - have a great trip next time you come to Blackpool.

Tried to book into the Canasta hotel over the phone after reading the positive reviews. Received short thrift over the phone when I questioned the price I was quoted (as it was higher than the price quoted on the website). When I politely asked why the price was higher, I was told 'if I don't like the price I should go and find somewhere else to stay' and he then hung up on me. As someone who stays in hotels every week for business, I have never been treated so rudely to an enquiry about the prices and was appalled that a potential customer could be treated in this way! I definitely won't be staying there after that!

Arrived at the Canasta after a long drive from north east of Scotland to be welcomed by the owner ( Dougie) who offered us a pot of tea or coffee , a great touch which was repeated every time we returned to the hotel no matter what time of day. Our room was very clean with clean towels every day ( as long as you put your dirty ones in the shower tray ). Breakfast was great with a choice menu to suit any taste , everything was cooked to perfection , not like some hotels ive been to where you get the feeling your breakfast has just came out the rubber factory . If i had any complaint regarding breakfast it would be that some of the tables are very close together and that sometimes the girls put your cooked meal on your table before you had finished your cereal , however dont let this put you off as iam being extremely fussy in highlighting these points , however iam trying to as honest as i can .On the Monday of our arrival we had great fun on the kareoke( hope thats how you spell it ) with our hosts Dougie and Swampy , who both do a great turn and were great fun , as were the rest of the guests who are all couples or families so you dont have to worry about groups of lads or lasses. Would have liked to seen our hosts a bit more during the week but i suppose the work behind the scenes may have sopmething to do with that , bar prices are very realistic and there was a lovely polite blonde girl behind the bar who always had a smile on her face and made you feel really welcome. I have been to Blackpool every year for god knows how long and always used different hotels , not any longer we will always use this hotel in the future so Dougie and Swampy get you ear plugs arranged for febuary/march time.Lastly i would like to say that i have never stayed that far out before but found the location ideal , only a 10 min walk to tour or if you would rather take the tram there is a tram stop more or less across from the hotel.Keep up the good work you two but would be good to see you both a bit more if your time allows , great stay in a great hotel many thanks to all, see you again soon

Thanks for the honest report. I agree as we are only four blocks from North Pier I think we're in the best spot in Blackpool - I wouldn't swap it with any other hotel! Yes - the dining tables need spacing out and sometimes the girls don't do it effectively - I'll need to work on that. We do have other business interests to attend to during the day and can't always socialise as much as we'd like to. We'll look forward to welcoming you again!

“Nice stay”

Myself and hubby stayed at the canasta for 3 night starting the 27th july 2007.
Arrived feeling very tired after a 6 hour journey(due to flooding etc) booked in easily and quickly but not much conversation offered if im honest!
Room was nice, very clean the fan was an excellent idea!
Was given lots of advice on where to go to eat which was nice, the breakfast was fab although a little rushed on the last morning the toast was plonked on the table b4 we even sat down! This did not affect our overall view though as we felt the girls serving breakfast were just being ultra efficent!!
The man who was working on the sat and sun day at the front of house was lovely (i believe it was his first wkd) he was chatty, helpful and always jolly and polite 100% genuine guy.
Would stay here again, maybe make an effort to join in with the kareoke next time, it looked fun!! Overall a very good stay.

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend at The Canasta, I can only agree with the previous positive comments about this hotel, the staff are very friendly and attentive, we had no problems finding a space in the car park at the front of the hotel, tea or coffee offered when we arrived, in fact each afternoon when we returned to the hotel. Our room was great, spacious and spotlessly clean. Plenty of choice at breakfast, even seconds if you can manage it. We will definitely stay at this hotel again

Thanks for your kind comments and for rating us so highly. I should mention that although we have spaces for 18 vehicles we don't guarantee parking. Some weekends everybody arrives by car and the later arrivals need to find street parking nearby (It is free on well lit main road) Just didn't want to give impression that we can ALWAYS park EVERYBODY. (There's not many hotels in Blackpool that can do that!)
