“THIEVING problem at the Carousel Hotel”

We stayed at the Carousel Hotel (South Shore Blackpool, A Sleepwell Group hotel) in September 2006 following a dinner function on the Saturday evening.

There is very little parking at the hotel, just a small yard at the back and if that is full then you have to try and find a place on the road in front of the hotel. We arrived to find that the police had just visited because some guests had reported a theft on the Saturday morning.

The room was satisfactory, but the carpets in corridors throughout the hotel were a pale colour and showing the dirt. The room door did not automatically lock on shutting, one has to use the key to lock it from the outside when leaving the room and it was awkward to be positive it was locked properly (more on that later).

The function was well organised and the staff and manager made efforts to make it a enjoyable occasion.

At about 08:30 the next morning, Sunday, the fire alarm went off and the whole hotel was evacuated and the fire brigade arrived. Not an ideal way to start the day after a party the night before.

When it was confirmed as a false alarm we went back to our rooms. One of our party found that £60 cash had been stolen from a wallet in the room which was then reported to the police. Whether the room door had locked properly or not is uncertain. However it did appear that the fire alarm was deliberately set off to get all the guests out of the rooms to set up the thieving opportunity. The thief probably walked the corridors trying all the doors. Whether this was done by hotel staff or outsiders cannot be determined.

That there were thefts on consecutive days does seem to indicate that this hotel has a chronic problem with thieving and that its security methods are not of a good standard.

Stayed here during half term. Rooms were very clean though also very small. The main problem we had was that the lift is a manual one and people seemed quite content to let the lift door slam close at all hours of the night, waking us continually.
The breakfast buffet is reasonable, restocked regularly.
Ate in the restaurant one night. Food was okay, though they had run out of several items, but the service left a lot to be desired. All the waiting staff were keen but none really had the knowhow. For example, removing pltaes whilst we were still eating.
The hotel is on the quieter side of Blackpool and a pleasant stroll along the sea front to the Pleasure Beach and South Beach.
Slightly above average.

stayed at the carousel hotel for 4 nights at the end of september, we looked up the hotel on tripadvisor and booked after good reviews. we had two seperate rooms which were both of a high standard, the bathrooms were very clean and the showers were excellent.

The hotel staff were always polite and very helpful.

The restaurant was well kept and the food was above average and we enjoyed all 4 evening meals. The breakfast is buffet style and is always fresh.

The only problem we had was 2 of our 4 nights the hotel shut the bar area because they had hired the room out to private functions.

overall very good value for money on a mid-week break.

We stayed for three nights and were very impressed by this modern hotel and the lovely food, that would not be out of place in a fancy, designer restaurant.

This is the nicest Blackpool hotel that I have stayed in.

Excellent location for the Pleasure Beach and a tram stop right outside.

“Fab Hotel!!!”

Carousel Hotel

Just returned from spending the weekend at the Carousel. The room we stayed in was very clean and tidy although it did get very warm at night. The bathroom was beautiful with a brillant shower although it was a bit on the small side! The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the Pleasure Beach so it's not too noisy. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it!!!
