After a one night stay at this superb hotel last year we vowed we would return...and here we are...the only difference this time was that we had to stay for two nights. Guess what! We were not disappointed this time either. The illuminations were on which added that little extra sparkle to the holiday but the key to it all was, once again, our hosts and their excellent accommodation. Kevin and Elaine were model hosts with their warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful attitudes towards all of the guests...nothing seemed too much trouble for them! They were (as with last time) very knowledgeable about the local amenities and attractions and always ready to help if they could. The room was clean, well presented, spacious and very comfortable again. The breakfast choices were as varied as before and these and the cooked breakfast were just as delicious as before, all served in the (once again) immaculate dining room. The bar was cosy and homely- perfect after a hard evening at the fantastic Tower Circus and a funny lift trip to the top of the tower. Which, might I add, is the only way to see fully admire the illuminations (a bit away from the bustle of the promenade). Take some time to read the old postcards in the lobby toilet, which made me laugh even second time round! I can't really fault this phenomenal hotel...so I won't! Fantastic value for money again so you can bet that we'll be going back! Keep up the excellent work.

A party of 6 us stayed at the Collingwood Hotel, Holmfield in Blackpool for a long weekend, the service was first class, the rooms were clean and the food was very good indeed. The hotel is family friendly, no stag/hen parties and the owners could not do enough for us. You are just off the North Promenade and are just a walk or a short tram ride right into the centre of Blackpool. I recommend this hotel if you have families with you or are looking to be near enough to everything but still be able to walk away from the bustle and noise at the end of the day and enjoy the tranquility and a few in the hotel bar.

First things first, we stayed here for just £24 pppn. For that sort of price I would have been rather dubious as to the quality of the hotel. However having seen the pics on the website and the reviews on TA I was fairly confident that it would be OK. In the end it was far better than that. I'm sure there are better hotels in Blackpool but I doubt there is one that offers better value for money. The room was a decent size and didn't make you feel hemmed in by the bed. The decor was fine and the bed comfortable. Another plus point was that the ensuite (also a good size) felt like another room rather than just an add on in the corner.

The breakfast was delicious and Kevin is the smartest waiter I've met in a hotel.

The location is up on the North shore, just a minute from the seafront. Some people find it too far out from Blackpool centre but I've always liked being up by the Gynn. It's quieter and I enjoy the stroll down to the North pier, from there you are close to most of what Blackpool has to offer. If you want to get to the pleasure beach then it's only a pleasant tram ride away.

3 Apr 2008 | Trip type: Family

I stayed here in March with my husband and 2 young children, aged 4 and 2. We had a family room with a double bed & 2 singles, and there was still plenty of space. A TV, dvd, and a games console (with another tv) were all in the room, so there would have been plenty to entertain the kids if we had needed to stay in for any period of time. The room was lovely; spotlessly clean and fresh, as was the rest of the hotel.

Breakfast was fantastic, cooked fresh according to what you fancied that day, which suited my daughter (4), down to the ground!

The best part about it is that you get the impression that the owners, Kevin and Elaine, really do care. I happened to mention when we booked that we were going as a birthday treat for my daughter, and when we got to the room there was a card and a box of chocolates waiting for her, such a personal touch is so rare!

We visit Blackpool probably twice a year and have stayed in various establishments, but we have made the decision now that whenever we go we will definitely be staying here!

  • Liked — The owners!
  • Disliked — The light pull in the bathroom was annoying at first (at head height just inside the door), but we tied it up & the problem went away!
