“What a welcome!”

Amethyst Hotel

18 Sep 2007

I have stayed in Blackpool many times and have often felt as though guests aren’t really welcome in some hotels and are considered a nuisance to proprietors. At the Amethyst it is the exact opposite!

Myself and a group of friends booked the Amethyst for a night out for my friends birthday. On arrival we noticed a big banner and balloons on the door announcing my friend’s birthday, this was a nice touch and made us feel as though the landlord and landlady were looking forward to our arrival. It got even better when we went inside.

We were greeted by John and Pearl who had decorated the breakfast room with balloons and banners and had laid on a fabulous buffet, complete with cake and a bottle of champers! We were encouraged to start celebrating immediately, to which we happily obliged.

The bar was well stocked and all areas were immaculately clean. The location is great too, a short walk to the pubs and main shopping area. No matter what time you return to the hotel, John and Pearl are ready waiting to carry on the celebrations!

I have never met a couple who show so much enthusiasm in their work, my only regret is that I had to leave!

Went for a weekend with 7 mixed age female friends. Stayed at the Amethyst hotel in Blackpool. The landlady most welcoming setting us sandwiches before going out. The only rule she asked for was to not smoke in the rooms. The hotel was nicely decorated for the girls. Fairy lights, nice drapes and nic nacs. No matter what time you arrive back at the hotel the landlady is there waiting for you (saturday night) with kareoke, music dancing, bar. It really made the weekend away brilliant. Great breakfast in the morning.
