My boyfriend and I stayed for one night at this hotel on Saturday 3rd December to celebrate our anniversary. We booked to stay there after looking at the photographs of the bedrooms and the reviews it had been given on here, after all we know with Blackpool the hotels can be 'hit and miss', unfortunately this was a massive 'miss.
On arrival, we were greeted with the sight of a collapsed ceiling in the bar (due to a guest leaving the tap on in their bedroom so therefore not the fault of the hotel and the lady on reception was very apologetic). As we booked through booking.com we checked that the room had been paid for and were told that for any one night stays payment is taken upfront....more about this later...
We did not have unrealistic expectations of our room only that it would be clean and habitable, however room 35, which resides at the end of a dark corridor at the rear of the hotel was a terrible disappointment. This room was probably last decorated twenty years ago and had a musty smell. The prime reason for choosing this hotel, as I have already mentioned was to have a nice room and not to end up in dirty, unpleasant room. I felt cheated and feel that the hotel is falsely advertised.
Issues with the room:
Filthy kettle, tea cups and teaspoon - wouldn't touch them with a barge pole
Hard and uncomfortable bed with an old dirty yellow headboard
Small, low pressure shower - more of a trickle than anything
Dirty chair - with various stains
Quarter of a toilet roll and no replacement
Whilst getting ready to go out for our evening meal we heard several loud male voices in the hallway but thought nothing more of it. On escaping our room we found a picture had been pulled off the wall and was now lying on the floor, we thought this was strange as the pictures are screwed into the walls. My boyfriend picked it up and took it downstairs to reception, where he handed it to the receptionist and explained how we found it. She was very thankful we had brought this to her attention and apologised again.
After returning from our night out around half past midnight we were awoken suddenly at 2.30am by loud arguing in the corridor between several males. We also heard bangs (we found in the morning one had punched a hole in the wall) and one of the males was actually growling. I was absolutely terrified got extremely upset as it was outside our room. When we had checked in the receptionist had said that if there was any noise to go down to reception and report it to the night porter, however we couldn't do this as they were in the corridor! I stopped my boyfriend from going into the corridor as I was scared he would get attacked. In the end I hardly slept as this ordeal continued for a long time. This only further deepened my upset and disappointment as another reason we chose this hotel was the fact that it isn't supposed to take group bookings (a fact that the receptionist told us).
Breakfast was....ok....it was a hot buffet with all the usuals, however the sausages were a funny colour and looked really cheap. The staff weren't very friendly and gave us funny looks.
At checkout we told the receptionist the events of the night before and were told the males had been arrested. She did apologise and said she hoped it wouldn't put us off going back but to be honest the room alone put me off.
We checked out and went off to enjoy the best of a very windy Blackpool!! This was interrupted however by a curt call from a man who said he was from booking.com accusing us of not paying for our room when we had in fact had it confirmed at check-in that it had been paid for so I'm not sure what he was talking about as it has since been confirmed by the bank that the money has been paid.
All in all this stay was a disaster and thoroughly disappointing. I was also shocked that the hotel didn't offer any sort of recompense for the ordeal we endured. I understand that the behaviour of the guests is not the fault of the hotel however, the way thy deal with it is their responsibility as is the advertisement of their hotel and its rooms.
Don't stay in 35!!!

We are quite dumbfounded by this review, they were a very nice couple. Yes there was a leak in the lounge when they arrived, it affected a few ceiling tiles and was put right within a few hours. The room they were given has not had new furniture as yet we only took over 7 months ago but is due for a refit over the next few weeks, however it does have a modern bathroom. They did not complain about the room when we asked if everything was okay for them. If guests don’t tell us they are not happy we can’t put it right. They booked through booking .com and paid £25 each bed and breakfast, they did not request a sea view room, which have all been renovated and carry a supplement. Yes we did have a party of 6 males who booked through booking.com and we thought they were two families. We were surprised when they turned up as we don’t usually take male parties. They didn’t behave appropriately and they were dealt with. We were very apologetic to the couple and they said not to worry. When they checkout on Sunday they wanted to leave their suitcase until 5pm. The hotel closes after checkout on Sundays in winter, but we agreed to give up our half day off look after their cases as a gesture of good will, so they could enjoy a day out in Blackpool. As for breakfast, we never get any complaints about the food or restaurant staff, I really do not know what the guest is complaining about. I hope readers do not take too much notice of this review.
