“Loved the Marlbro”

Just returned from a weekend in Blackpool...........and we cant wait to go back!! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Marlbro Hotel on the Prom. The room we had was very clean ,and, eventho we'd booked a double room, we had a double bed and a single bed in it. Handy!! The rooms were cleaned everyday, and to a high standard. Our room overlooked the car park, which my boyfriend was happy about as he could keep an eye on his car, men!!
As we're not the "clubbing" type of people we stayed at the hotel bar at night. The hotel has karaoke there, which is a giggle!
Breakfast was your choice of cereal, toast and a fry-up. Lovely!!
Hotel is not far from the town centre (about 5min walk) and there are a few little shops on the way. Primark was huge, you'd need a day just to look around!!
Went to the tower on the Saturday, spent the whole day there. Go there in the morning to get the full benefit of the place. The circus was brilliant and would highly recommend it!! Go to the top of the tower, the view from there on a clear day is fantastic. We made out the mountains of Snowdonia. Walking the "Walk of Faith" was a bit scary fo me but when you see small children doing it you have to do it yourself!
Waxworks was quite good too. Take your Tower tickets there and you get half price off! £9.95 we paid for 2adults, bargain! It took a few hours for us to go around. The best bit, you can have food in "Roy's Rolls" and eat it in "Rovers Return".
We went for a walk towards the Pleasure Beach and it took about 10mins from the hotel (might take longer if you like to look around the shops on the way!).
On the whole, we very much enjoyed our stay. And Jay was hilarious! We can't wait to go back, for a week this time! Highly recommend staying at the Marlbro, and take enough 50p's to play the Cluedo machine!!

we stayed at the blenheim mount hotel central prom it was very disappointing as i felt that what we paid for 2 rooms for 4 nights was way over priced for the state of the hotel and the meals were very disappointing 1 night in particular i had spaghetti bolognese and it was terrible i could have made better myself. very kind friendly sfaff is 1 good thing they had going for them. i have stayed in a few central prom hotels and this is definetly the worst. the car park is a joke, as we got stuck in traffic on the way down we were a few hours late so the car park was full as its first come first served basis. i know they cant help the size of the car park but you dont expect to pay £600 for 2 rooms for 4 nights and then you cant even get your car parked and then forced to pay £60 to park the car in a private car park.

“Century Hotel Blackpool”

I stayed here with a friend for a few days to see the illuminations. On our arrival we received a friendly welcome and were shown to our rooms. The hotel is quiet and comfortable with bright interior and furnishings. My room however had a stale urine odour that would not go away. The bathroom was not cleaned in all of the time we stayed there, in fact I never saw a cleaner the whole time we were there. The dining room appeared clean with plenty of room between tables. On the hygiene front however things were far from satisfactory. The wine glasses were filthy, and I mean filthy. Even when I tried to clean one of mine with the napkin the stains would not come off, I did this in plain site of the waitress who never even bothered or offered a clean glass. The teaspoons had not been cleaned with remnants of food still on them; the same applied to other cutlery. The polish dining room staff have to be by far the rudest people I have ever encountered, this was echoed by other guests I chatted with also, no matter how friendly guests are with them a simple hello or smile never came from any.

The meals were (ok) with only two choices from the menu. Breakfast was miserable to say the least, a full English breakfast it certainly was not! I got the impression if they could have got off with tea and toast they would have served it up? They even put the milk into people cereal and it was not fresh!

I probably will not use the hotel again, pity though as I was looking forward to staying there. I spoke to a couple of ladies who were booked in for a ten day stay and they were not at all happy with the way things were. I work with two charity organisations that specialise in providing holidays for people with disabilities. Some improvements clearly are needed.

My favourite places to eat, pub grub style in the general area are:

The Squirrel Bispham for an excellent carvery for £3.50 during the day rising to £7.50 on a sunday.

The Ship at Elswick - good sit down pub food in a comfortable environment

The Crofters at Garstang - good pub food, family run pub/hotel

The Punchbowl at churchtown near Garstang - a real hidden secret; gastro pub type food and plenty of it.

Enjoy.

“Great”

Blackpool

25 Aug 2007

Blackpool has always been a family attraction sea side holiday location.

We thought that the promenade from North Pier and Central Pier needs to be brightened up. It was the same old shops and stalls from 20years ago.

The stag and hens were out in force at the weekends, but they were there to have fun. It's a case of walking on the promenade rather than the streets where the overflow of party goers tend to be drunk and fights break out.

It's still a great place
