location very good secluded drive amid beautiful landscape gardens
value very good
food did not have dinner but the menu looked very pricey
breakfast good and efficiant plus very friendly service
rooms my single was a little too small everything was in the room just very cramped would struggle if staying for longer than a couple of night due to lack of cupboard space (doubles i assume are much larger
overall very nice and differant within only 3 miles of lincoln city centre
only complaint we arrived back at the ungodly time of 10 pm
to find the public rooms in darkness no bar nowhere to have any sort of nightcap without having to go to the room

“A quiet retreat in rural Lincoln”

Washingborough Hall Country House

We booked the Washingborough Hall Country House on the 30th December for a very last minute get away for New Years Eve. We weren't sure what to expect having read some of the reviews on here as some are quite negative.

When we arrived at the hotel i did wonder if i should reach for my National Trust tickets to gain entry. It has a beautiful regency facade with big bay windows over looking the lawns and gardens which must be lovely in summer. It also has ample car parking which is always a bonus.

On arrival at reception the staff were cheery and helpful and we were swiftly shown to our room. We booked an Executive room which was £100 B&B rate which we thought was a steal considering it was New Years Eve and everyone else seemed to have double their prices.

We had room 22. This was a very pleasant room with its original features and big chunky period furniture, damask style curtains and bed throw it all fitted into the feel of the house - no chintz in this room ! The bed was very comfortable too. The bathroom was very large with a spa bath only down side didn't get chance to try it.

We booked a meal in The Wedgwood Restaurant which cost £27.50 each. The wine and bottles of water we had were extra, which, again we thought a good deal for New Year. The staff were very attentive but the food is to die for it was truely superb. Including the Hor'dourves and after dinner coffee we had 6 courses from the Table d’Hôte menu. If you appreciate fine food its worth going just for that.

The following morning we had breakfast in the Wedgwood Restaurant and as we were first down we got chance to sit at a table in the bay window and watch the squirrels run about on the lawn. We had a full English Breakfast and again this wasn't a disappointment.

To sum up can't think of anywhere better to return to for good food and a relaxing stay. Would certainly give a four poster room a try next time for a romantic break.

Damp cold room with 70's decor. Restaurant serves over fancy food not terribly well. There must be better places in this area.

“Excellent Food”

My partner and i have just come back for a one night's stay at Washingborough hall. The building and grounds are very grand but the decor quite disappointing, we stayed in a standard double and it was very 80's- chinzy decor and liminate flooring in the bathroom, and tired furnishings. The redeming factor about this hotels is it's food- probably the best meal i have ever eaten, it was truely delicious, worthy of a michelin star. Check your bill throughly also; they tried to charge us for £50 worth of drinks that werent ours. I would probably recommend Branston Hall more than this, better value for money in my opinion.

We booked this hotel at the last minute after being badly let down by a large chain hotel. We were a large family group needing 5 bedrooms and a dining room to celebrate my mum's birthday.

They were helpful from the initial phone call and I was impressed to note after arrival that they had a sheet of notes about us to make sure all went well.

I saw all 5 rooms ranging from a basic double to a four poster, and all were tastefully decorated, clean and very quiet. I didn't hear a thing both nights we spent there.

Food was excellent. Breakfast a little slow but very pleasant , helpful staff. Both evening meals were beautiful, good menu, well cooked and presented. They were happy to cook for kids and a fussy sister!

We enjoyed the sitting room and bar, yes the bar is a little basic, but it isn't a pub and is quite adequate for most people.

The hotel is in a quiet position in the centre of a large village, only a few minutes drive from the centre of Lincoln. We all agreed it was far better to stay at the Washingborough Hall Hotel than a hotel in Lincoln itself, due to the ease of parking and peace and quiet.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.
