“excellent food”

Washingborough Hall Country House

We have just spent two nights over the bank holiday, and while we enjoyed the break,I think the hotel is lacking in something. We have stayed at many country house hotels and I have to say this was not one of the better ones.
The food is excellent and the young staff are very polite and pleasant, but if you want a drink in the bar you have to go looking for a member of staff and don't expect anything too fancy, he didn't know what a Bloody Mary was.
We had a four poster room which was nice and clean with all that you would expect, but I think the pillows may have been on loan from Fred Flintstone, they were that hard. The bathroom was a great disappointment, this was very dated and really could do with a makeover, not at all in keeping with the room.
All the electrical equipment was well out of PAT Test, in some cases 2 years. Would we make a return visit? No definitely not.

“Great Hotel, Good Location”

Just back from a lovely overnight stay at this small hotel on the outskirts of Lincoln. Very impressed by both the hotel accomodation and the quality of staff. We were booked in on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for one night. Smallish double room but well equipped and very clean. Lots of hot water for long soaks in the bath! Ate in the restaurant which was good and also enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast the following morning. The staff were very friendly and genuinely interested in looking after their guests - what a change! Would certainly recommend and stay again.

Individually shaped and sized rooms, Gilchrist and Soames toiletries, big bed, fresh milk and bottled water at bedside. Fantastic food, beautifully presented, pre-dinner canapes, professional and friendly staff. Well done to the new owners.

“Poor Service”

I have often stopped here used to enjoy it but since the installation of a new manager the hotel has rapidly gone downhill fast. Often no washing facilities ie. soap towels in toilets, what used to be starched napkins now so limp they fall over. Used to be so clean and spotless. General cleanliness has deteriorated significantly. The staff have changed significantly they always used to be so happy and cheerful, you are now lucky if you get a Good Morning. And all the old friendly staff appear to have been replaced by staff who couldn't give a dam for your comfort, they seem to view you as an intruder who only adds to their chores.
