Other reviews on Tripadvisor brought us to The Old Bakery. The position is good (less than five minutes walk from the castle and cathedral) and the food excellent - book a table in the restaurant when you book your room. Our room was small (which is what we expected), but quite adequate, and we'd certainly go back for a longer stay.

We had a wonderful meal in this restaurant, which incidentally was fully booked for a Tuesday night. If you're in Lincoln you simply must eat here at least once.

I had to come to Lincoln for work. I only stayed the one night but I found that my stay was very pleasant at the Old Bakery. As I had to leave for work early the next day after my stay and would miss breakfast, staff arranged to have muffins, cereal, milk fruit etc to be in my room on my arrival so that I could have breakfast in my room the next day before going to work. I thought this was incredibly kind and unlike so many hotels and bed and breakfast's I have stayed at before I was made to feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble for me.

The accomodation itself was very clean, looked after and extreamily accormfortable and in walking distance of the immenities of Lincoln. Unfortunately I was not able to stay longer at The Old Bakery but should I ever come to Lincoln again I would definately stay there and would recommend it to anyone.

We have stayed in Lincoln before and have never been quite satisfied. The Old Bakery was different, Clean, actually very clean, warm room even in a very cold March,
I found the food to be exellent, both breakfast and lunch, my wife differed and thought it was on the good side of OK. The room, No.4, was the smallest in the place and like previous reviewers we found the spiral stairs a mixed blessing. At first we found the stairs different and quaint, by the end of day 1 they were at best a pain.
Visitors with limited movement would find access to this room difficult.
We will use the Old Bakery again

“Absolutely splendid experience”

Having stayed at this wonderful establishment we can honestly say that the previous two reviews must have been written by people who are either impossible to please or they stayed at a different place to the one that we were in.
The cleanliness, comfort factor, tasteful decoration, first class service and magnificent breakfasts could not be faulted.
If that were not enough, the restaurant produces world class food at sensible prices and indeed they will learn at the end of February 2006 whether they have won the Restaurant of the Year award in which they are finalists.
The Old Bakery could not be faulted in any way and we shall certainly return.
