It was a stag party trip to Liverpool so you can imagine 30 boys being let loose. For that occasion it was ideal as really you could not damage the hotel as it was in my opinion already beyond repair. It does have a 'cosy' sports bar and the staff were really friendly. The location is also fantastic but it is definetely not value for money.

Stayed at the Lord Nelson end of January, could not fault anything. Staying in the town centre was great, no taxi's! Rooms were modern and clean. Watched football in sports bar the atmosphere was magic, residents bar was great too when we returned to the hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Will certainly be returning!

I arrived quite late in the evening after a long tiring train journey. The hotel is only just around the corner from Lime Street Station (literally a 2 mins walk!) and bang smack in the centre of the city.
The check-in was very quick and the lady behind the reception desk was very friendly and welcoming.
I had booked a Superior Room and was told it would be in the lift up to the 2nd floor and then just 1 flight of stairs to the top floor. I was a bit worried as I had a heavy suitcase, but having gone there in the lift (which looks like something original out of Dr.Who) the stairs were only a few treads and not painful at all.
The room was quite large and the carpets in my room very soft and fluffy. The room had all the basics and was clean, tidy and smelt nice. I was very pleased with the Free wire-less facility as well which I was unaware of when I booked and this worked faultless.
The shower was lovely - nice and hot with a lot of power, rather than some hotels where you get just a weak drizzle.
Breakfast the next morning was all laid out on a high table in the lounge area, which is a little unusual, but made me feel quite at home as I could sit on a comfy sofa eating my breakfast whilst watching TV and reading the morning paper. (Although there are also some high breakfast tables with stools dotted around but I didn't fancy sitting that high up early in the morn). The breakfast was a good selection of croissants, bread, cereals, juice and yoghurt. A bonus was the cheese (which is very important to me at breakfast!). All in all a very stylish and characterful hotel with a good atmosphere, friendly people - (and a reception assistant being a Parrot called Lord Nelson! - beautiful creature). It certainly was a very pleasurable stay for me.

I dont understand everyones problem with this hotel, as far as im concerned you get what you pay for and considering the hotel is in the centre of liverpool and in walking distance to coach and train stations and the hotel is clean, they have got nothing to moan about! I would recommend this hotel to anyone, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean with a contempary touch, with coffee and tea facilties, so what more can you ask for when you are only sleeping there.

“Very handy for the theatre”

The Lord Nelson Hotel

6 Dec 2007

We booked the Lord Nelson Hotel due to its locality to the theatre literally next door as we were attending the Royal Variety Show.I have never been asked to pay in full before at the point of check-in and found this a little unusual, when we found our room( after having to ask where to find it ) We realised why, it was shabby , no shower and draughty through the closed window. We asked to change rooms immediatley and were offered a better room at an additional cost, which we paid , once again up-front at the promise of a shower. To our dissmay we found the shower would not work the morning after the show , neither would the sink produce any cold water ( so no shower and teeth brushed with warm water- not a great start to the day having witnessed probably the best show and after show party we have ever been to). Breakfast was very poor- a small domestic toaster for all the guests to opperate themselves was far from ideal. Then to cap it all I was handed a set of keys to unlock the car park barriers myself when we left. Having witnessed the quality and organisation of the previous night,s entertainment and having stayed just one night at the Lord Nelson I am sorry but the words chalk and cheese come to mind.
