We had our Wedding at "The Hope Street Hotel" on Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th of May. We had a family and close friends reception in "The Fifth" after a ceremony in "The Old Bookroom" on Thursday, followed by an evening reception in "The residents lounge" the following evening, it was therefore a two day event. It is a fabulous venue, very contempory in style but the staff are the real asset.
We received a very personal service from the staff who were on duty on the day, they made us feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the stunning panoramic views of the Liverpool skyline in "The Fifth" which is a beautiful intimate function room with gorgeous floor to ceiling windows and a fabulous balcony area and with this week's weather it was a real talking point.
Sarah-M ensured our reception ran smoothly with the help of Jen-C and Anastasia-Z, they were bubbly and smiley and provided excellent service to our guests. Dan-C was a star, he ensured that everything I asked for was there immediately and took care of any requests that we had for us. So thanks Dan and all the team that helped make our reception so very special and relaxed.
We held our evening reception the following evening in "The Residents Lounge" which is a beautiful room with a piano and light which floods through the glass ceiling on the left of the room from the street level, additional space is found by way of a dance floor area through a partition and we used an adjacent boardroom for the buffet to enable us to have the maximum amount of guests in the Lounge area. I spoke with Matt-C and Mike-G on the day to ensure they knew our requirements, they were really helpful and actually had everything in order, again any requests we had were taken care of and they ensured our guests felt very welcome and ensured the atmosphere was relaxed. I have to say Ant-W was fab, he had served us the previous night for late night drinks in "The Residents Lounge" the day of our Wedding and also for our evening reception the following day, before we went to bed he told me he would check that the air conditioning was just right for us for our evening reception the following day as the outside temperature was going to be another 25 degrees. This we felt was lovely of him because he was thinking ahead and trying to ensure even the small things that we wouldn't maybe think about were taken care of. Niall-B and Ant even offered to take all our gifts to our room for us in the early hours when they probably would have preffered to go home really and that saved us some leg work. All the staff were just great, even the receptionist's were happy to help me from my car with bags, etc, as I arrived at the Hotel.
Breakfast is fabulous with a great Vegetarian breakfast which included Halloumi cheese, field mushrooms and Veggi Black Pudding, the best Veggi breakfast ive ever had. We were seved by a lovely member of staff- you know who you are but i'm sorry I did not get your name, a lovely guy who has been off work for a long time until recently, he was just lovely with our babies and made a real effort to chat to us and asked all about how our wedding day's were going, Dan-C served our breakfast on Saturday after all our events were over and he got the chef to make porridge and scrambled eggs for our babies which we felt was lovely of him, he had been really helpful and genuine with us the previous day.
Although we did not see the chef's as they are obviously busy and hidden away we would like to thank them for their expertise and culinery delights as the food was stunning and all our guests were impressed and raved about the food that they enjoyed with us.
We could not say anything at all that was negative, Thanks Hope Street Hotel, you are the best and probably the reason why you were used by the X-Factor Judges while staying in Liverpool doing their auditions last weekend.
The only suggestion that we could make is that alot of our guests stayed elsewhere over the two days because the Hotel does not offer a reduced rate or package for rooms for Wedding parties. We think this is an expectation for Wedding guests as most of our guests asked us if there was a promotional code or password to quote when looking at booking rooms at "The Hope Street Hotel" for our Wedding, this would have brought additional revenue to the Hotel and kept the Wedding party together as the Hotel was not full for our two events.
We look forward to returning on our Anniversary for a complementary stay, which we actually did not know about until we read the last Bride and Groom's review on Trip advisor :-)
Thanks again everybody.
Jo and Ian.
