“Grim doesn't describe it”

We had the misfortune to stay in this hotel while it was doubling as a building site. We had not been informed in advance that it would be so, and had expected to use the (still open) bar as a meeting place for business, little knowing the state of the place.

Quite why Radisson wanted to destroy whatever reputation it has - and, to be fair, we have stayed at their other hotels in London with few complaints - by leaving this place open amidst such major works is a mystery. The room was poky, the TV didn't work properly, I had to get the lavatory fixed as it didn't flush properly, the lift was not working and the bar didn't even serve sandwiches. While we were passing through, we pitied the many Europeans who had chosen this sorry excuse for a hotel as their London base.

On the positive side, the staff did their best to cope and remain cheerful, and the breakfast was of a reasonable standard. But Radisson should be hanging their heads in shame.

“Quite run down”

Radisson Edwardian Marlborough

6 May 2008

We booked the hotel because we thought it was in a good location and it was. We were able to walk to all hot spots from it. The hotel itself however, was quite run down. The front was covered in scaffolding to the point where we walked straight past it! The lift was broken, being on the 4th floor that wasn't so good. In our room the door to the bathroom wouldn't even close yet alone lock leaving not much privacy in the toilet, the paint work was peeling in the bathroom and the shower kept changing its mind as to what temerature it was at. There seemed to be a lingering smell in the corridor which was probably just old age. The staff were quite short when dealing with us at check in and at breakfast. Good location but wouldn't go back.

my husband booked a theatre break as a surprise for my birthday. When we arrived at the hotel were not aware of the amount of scaffolding surrounding the building.Weasked if there was anywhere we could get some lunch and frog-marched to the hotelacross the road. When we went to check in were told our luggage would be brought to our room. The first thing to hit me was the awful smell in the room. Our luggage still hadn't arrived and we needed to leave for the theatre so went down and asked if it was coming,to be told by someone else that it wasn't being brought to our room.
The show was fantastic, although somewhat marred by the fact that we would have to return to the hotel. When we did return, the full horror of the room sunk in- the smell was even worse, wallpaper coming off the wall,tv did not work, the toilet seat had not been cleaned and the room was small dark and dusty with dirty grimy wallpaper. We had also requested a non smoking room but had been given a smoking room as the smell of stale cigarette smoke was also apparent.
We quickly went out and decided that we would complain when we returned, although i desperately wanted to go home.On return we did complain and the one helpful chap on reception ( the rest of the staff being rude and unhelpful ) said that we should not have been given a smoking room and he would try to move us toanother hotel, but the oher one was full.
We had to bear the night there,i hardly slept because of the stench and no air in the room. When we went down to breakfast we discovered that you had to be one of the chosen ones to be offered toast ! we obviously didn't fit into that category,my cup was taken from my hand whilst i was still drinking !
We left our luggage while we went to the British Museum and on return were given 3 or 4 wrong bags, then my husband being told to wade throughthe roomful of bags to get it himself. The taxi they organised to the station was a joke, the driver on his phone throwing it to the passenger seat every time he saw a policeman.
Would not stay here again EVER and had a wasted weekend hving used holiday from work to come here.

“Aweful”

Radisson Edwardian Marlborough

1 May 2008

This was possibly the worst hotel I have stayed at in London. Disregarding the major (and I mean major) renovations that are taking place at the moment this hotel still does not deserve one of its 4 stars. The room I stayed in was small, dirty, the TV didn't work, the staff were very unhelpful and the location really isn't that good.

Then there is the lift... one for the whole hotel... no sensors so it closes on you... sums up the whole hotel really. Overpriced and disappointing.

I would warn anyone against staying here, choose somewhere else!

“Never again”

Thank god we were only here for two nights!
We didnt realise when booking that the hotel was in a middle of a full refurbishment which means that there is no resturant, no bar, half the hotel was boarded off and there was no working lift. The first god awful room they put us in had the one window in the room boarded up and had a bathroom straight out of the 70s. After complaining we were moved to another room but after going to bed, the next morning i woke up with bites all up my legs and just feeling generally itchy! I have never posted any hotel feedback before but i was so disgusted with this hotel i felt i tell to let everyone else know. so DONT COME HERE!
