We (3 mid-twenty aged adults) visited Piccadilly Circus Jan 08. There is a Piccadilly Tube stop in the square which is how we ended up making the mistake of going here! This area is a just a large busy street junction filled with lighted advertising signs and tourist type shops, restaurants and chain fast food places. The ONLY thing of significance here is the Shaftesbury memorial fountain and statue of an archer known as Eros which sits in the center of the Circus. It’s not a must see part of London. The only thing to do here is to admire the neon signs, tourist shop, and grab a bite to eat. Avoid if you are not interested in these and instead spend your time doing something else even if it’s sleeping! An alternative to shopping at Piccadilly is nearby Oxford Circus. The shopping and restaurants here are of much higher quality!
Tips- Take a photo and leave! Good for tourist trap shopping, fast food, people watching, or a coffee break. Visit Oxford Circus instead and skip Piccadilly.
