Booking an unknown hotel for someone else (in this case, the Boss) - is always a scary thing to do. On Tuesday 15th March, all my usual City hotels were full. Using the reviews on Trip Advisor and booking through Wotif, I picked the Elizabeth Hotel. Not close to the City, but close to travel links. Its not easy to find a hotel which meets his "good night's sleep" requirements - but this one did.

The Elizabeth Hotel is a quaint hotel. It is in great location next to Victoria Train Station. Our room (triple) was extremely small for 3 people but the room was clean and we had a balcony facing Eccleston Square. The staff was helpful although I don't really think they liked Americans all that much.

Room was small but clean. Bathroom was average size and also clean. Staff was pleasant and breakfast was very good. I'd recommend it.

Close to Vitoria Station (walking distance), very quaint street. This is a classic example of you get what you pay for. I wanted something in that area on short notice that was "local". Found the room on a late rooms web site for under 100gbp. The room was good for sleeping, and that is about it. Bathroom was nothing to get excited about. The help seemed to be mostly young immigrants, not truely hospitality professionals.

For one cheap quick night in London it was ok, but I'll take my chances on the many other choices next time.
