This is a property by Marriott. It is a nice hotel with larger than standard London-size rooms.
the rooms are comfortable but lack proper lighting!
This whole hotel is too dimly lit! We are in our late 40s and early 50s and we could not read anything at this hotel without turning on the flash on our iPhones!
The rooms have a bathroom with sliding doors that do not close well enough to shield noise!
The worst experience you can have at this hotel is staying at any of the rooms close to the front side of the hotel on the 1st or maybe the second floor as well! The "trendy" "in place" Fourier/Bar at the hotel lobby, right at the entrance with the tens of half drunk free spirits enjoying their hangout while making others miserable with their noise! You all know how half drunks become loud!
When we first walked in this hotel I thought we entered into a convention of some sort or maybe a pre-wedding reception, but the next three days the same crowd and the same noise! I asked the doorman about this "convention", he graciously explained this goes on 4 to 5 nights a week and these people were normal Londoners out for a drink at the "in place"!
I will not be staying at this noisy hotel with no room for lounging at the lobby and no light to read anything!
To be fair, the location is great, right off oxford and Soho is a minute walk away.
Also to be fair, the people working all over the hotel were extremely gentle and professional and helpful.
If you appreciate your quiet and comfort, stay away. If you like to be "in" with a bunch of half-drunks who do not know you, then by all means check in there :-)
Oh, I forgot, they kindly placed us at the farthest rooms from the entrance, right at the back of the hotel ... facing a construction site !!!! Sleep tight!

Room tip: Stay away from front rooms at the 1st and 2nd floor. Stay away from all backside rooms facing the construction site. Do not plan on spending any quite and relaxing time at the hotel lobby. AND, bring along a torch light ;-)

Dear Ammar,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding your experience and I was so pleased to read that you enjoyed both our wonderful location and the service provided by our friendly team. We went to great lengths to find and train our team and comments like yours validate our efforts.

We are indeed a new lifestyle brand from Marriott, and we have worked in collaboration with Ian Schrager to design a hotel which is unique and authentic in its design and I am sorry if the ambiance of the dimmed lighting was disappointing for you. Our rooms have a variety of lighting settings including reading lights on our beds and we are always happy to provide stronger standing lamps should these not be adequate.

The London EDITION is well known for its award winning food and beverage outlets, all of which are incredibly popular and I was disappointed to learn that the lively atmosphere created around the hotel within these areas was not to your liking. Our Punch Room is a quieter space and I would perhaps recommend on future visits that you ask for a table to be booked in this room, as I believe you would enjoy this experience as a contrast.

The beauty of the Marriott portfolio of brands is that there is a variety of styles and services available, I understand that we may not be the brand for you however if you should wish to return to the hotel, I would love to welcome you back and personally oversee your stay. Thank you again for your feedback.

With best regards

We went as a family group last week (9 people) and consequently were given a special menu with only 4 main courses and one of them had to be shared with someone else. So for me I had a choice of three. I did not fancy any of those so was forced to eat something that I did not want.
I checked with my fellow guests and the food was unimaginative, but reasonably cooked. My wife had a posset that was still partially frozen.
The sommelier suggested some reasonable wines and the decor was very good.

Would I go again, no thanks.

Dear David,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback and I was sorry to learn that you were disappointed with your experience at The London EDITION.

For groups of 9 diners or more we have designed a tailored menu which we provide our guests, ensuring a consistent and quality service on the evening, however, we do recognise that sometimes this doesn’t suit everyone’s taste and we will accommodate special requests wherever possible. At the moment we are offering our Lemon Posset, which is a fresh seasonal dish served with a Mulled Wine Granita, which could give the impression of it being partially frozen and I am sorry to hear that this was not to the liking of some of your party. As a result of your feedback we will also re-look at the menu choices as it is important to us that our guests do feel that they enjoyed their experience with us at Berners Tavern.

Thank you once again and we do hope that you will return to visit again soon. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally so that I can oversee your reservation next time.

Kind regards

I often find hip hotels lacking compared to a 'real' 5 star place. Not the Edition.

Amazing service. A group of 6 (rooms) were all provided in room checkin. This was my second stay at the Edition. Rooms are very good, bathrooms excellent. Again the service is perfect.

The hotel bar is as hip/popular as a 'real' bar. Restaurant is very good.

Only thing lacking from hotel is a Spa (there is a good gym). But if you can survive without this, it is the perfect place to stay in London both for business or pleasure.

Booking was also very good by emailing Anna directly Reservations.London@editionhotels.com

I will be back.
