It is really interesting to read some of the negative reviews on here and I do hope Richard Ward and his team take time to consider all of the points made. I can’t afford to get my hair coloured here, but I often return for a basic cut when I am in the UK. Yes, it is expensive but the thing that keeps me coming back is the most amazing finish that I have ever experienced anywhere. The special curly blowdry finish with movement is the most magical thing my hair has ever experienced!
I’ve had some of the ‘Director’ level stylists cut my hair. As the technical standard is so high, the graduate stylists are very good, and much more reasonably priced. Foster (now a stylist) is an absolute star of the future and is just a really nice, down to earth, intelligent, professional hairdresser who wants to make you happy by making you look lovely.
Now, the bad things; there really can be a bit of an atmosphere from some of the arrogant staff, some of the juniors who shampoo your hair can be a bit rough with your head/neck/hair and splash you, it is impersonal and everyone expects you to automatically know where to go and wait and what is going on, the man on reception is just awful and rude, and you have to pay for drinks in addition to your expensive haircut.
Despite loving the way my hair looks when I leave, I don’t know if I want to go back again. This is because last time, Richard Ward (the owner and brand) looked at me in the most disparaging way that I was genuinely made to feel absolutely worthless. Yes, I’m a chubby, frizzy haired nobody with bad teeth, but surely I deserve to be treated as a human being and valued customer?
The salon will survive - and indeed flourish because of Royal association and its location in Chelsea. However, I don’t know if I want to contribute to someone who made me feel less than I am. Nobody deserves to feel that way and nobody should be treated like that.
