My Peruvian girlfriend and I made a trip to Tito's after just having spent a few months away in Peru. I was firstly surprised that a Peruvian restaurant existed but we were unsure of whether the food would be the same as when we were away.
Yet, we were pleasantly surprised.
The atmosphere is very pleasant, especially if you have been away to Peru or any parts of Latin America. Most people eating there were Latin American themselves but you occasionally had a couple of business men drop in to try something new.
There was a huge selection and it was a real struggle to choose from their menu.
The empanadas as a starter were interesting - instead of baked in traditional pastry they were fried in a corn type pastry but you can't criticise them for lacking ingredients. For example, they made up in other areas such as catering for my girlfriend, who is from the Amazon, by bringing her some 'platano maduro' (sweet plantain that specifically grows in the jungle) - God knows how they managed to get that!
For main course, I had ají de gallina (a chicken based dish with a cheese sauce and rice) - This was really delicious and I would certainly recommend this typical dish, especially to people who are a bit wary or who stick to their comfort zone.
The selection of desserts was again fantastic and very reasonably priced - roughly £6.
Drinks are not expensive at all which is not common in London - roughly £3.50 for a bottle of imported Peruvian Cusqueña beer and about £3.20 for a single with mixer included.
As for service, the waiters all seemed very friendly and happy to help. They all spoke perfect English so you don't need to worry if you don't speak Spanish, although I'm sure it would always be welcome to say 'buenos dias' etc!
All in all, we had a great time here. It was a lovely experience for us and we would certainly recommend it.
Additionally, there is a club downstairs which has two floors, voted Best Latino Club in London if I'm not wrong. Don't forget to put your dancing shoes on for some Salsa, Merengue and Reggaeton!
