I have been a long term customer going back at least 5 years, eating at this place every 1-2 years whenever I'm visiting London.
This time round, the service was substandard. I ordered roti canai as a starter and laksa for the main course. The waiter brought me iced milk tea which I didn't order (I asked for iced water), when I said so, he took it away promptly, and rather than offer to give it for free, it was poured down the sink.
Then my main course arrived before my starter, and when I commented on that, the waiter said "oh, it will come", which was hardly my point.
While I was eating, I spotted a small cockroach crawl out from a joint in the bar counter where I was sitting next to. When I told the waiter, he chased after it with a napkin, but did not offer to move me to another table. I ate my laksa with my eyes fixated on the bar counter in case other cockroaches appeared.
Anyway, I finished my laksa before the roti canai arrived. The roti was over-cooked, oily and quite hard, and what's worse, I found a hair embedded in the roti. Needless to say I declined another portion in exchange.
When I thought nothing else could go wrong, I was told I could not pay the bill (which was now £6.50 without the roti canai) with a card if it is less than £10. There was a sign on the door that says they accept cards, but no mention that the bill needs to be more than £10! I paid in cash after a visit to the cash machine. Then I was short-changed, given £1 less.
Come on, they need to employ proper waiters, not students who have no intelligence and cannot do simple maths. The food has gone downhill, so while it may be cheap for London standards, I don't think it is worthwhile putting up with the poor service and poor hygiene.
Needless to say, I won't be coming back.
