Absolutely dreadful.
I booked this hotel(?) as I live nearby and was having guests to go a relatives wedding.
Complete shambles!!
Rooms I had checked were booked ok in the morning had been given to other guests by the afternoon.
My elderly aunt had to take her own luggage to a third floor room up really narrow twisty stairs.
Staff disappeared on Sunday evening leaving the menu of a local Chinese takeaway.
The bar was left open and people told to serve themselves!
Fortunately for the owners my relatives are honest.
Total chaos! the staff seem friendly but haven't a clue
Avoid!!

Stayed 19 nov

Service - very poor
Room - dirty and damp, sheets old and washing facilities old (in need of repair)

Food - basic and as far as evening meal concerned, substandard

Hospitality - non-existent. rude and disinterested staff. Requests for information met by surly response from manager (?)

Will i stay again ? No. I would not recommend this "hotel" to anyone wishing to stay near Norwich.

VFM - far too expensive for a very poor bed and breakfast. To call it a hotel is entering trades descriptions act territory.

“Worst hotel in the World and why”

A party of 6 of us stayed at Mannings Hotel in July. At 1 am my wife and I were woken by the fire alarm. We exited from the 2nd floor via an exterior unlit fire escape, in total darkness. We could not see our hand in front of our face. we could have fallen to our deaths. Subsequent inspection in the morning showed there was not any light bulb in the fitting. We grouped with the other guests in front of the hotel. A guest had to ring the fire brigade. because no representative of the hotel made an appearance until after the arrival of the fire brigade. A rude woman, who we took to be the manager, turned up, and instructed us to "go to bed". When our party of 6, (the others also had problems exiting the hotel,) sought to bring these points to her attention she was very rude. I asked her if she didn't care about her guests, she replied, "I couldn't give a ----". (I recorded her confirming this when we checked out the following day). We were charged full rate because they insisted on getting our credit card no. when we booked. The owner never turned up, let alone apologised. We wrote to the owner, guess what, he never replied. I've not even mentioned all the other points - they pale into insignificance. They advertise as a hotel, it is an ill run boarding house where the guest is not respected. This must be the worst hotel in the World. Stay at your peril.

“Mannings Hotel, Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in”

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Mannings Hotel. The walls were so thin that you could hear everything going on in the next room and we were kept awake until 3 am in the morning by noisy guests. The television was ancient and did not work, and because we had to be away at 7.30 am to go to work, there was no breakfast available but we were charged for breakfast. My wife booked the room on line and the hotel came back and told her to cancel the internet booking and it would be £5.oo per night cheaper. My wife was asked how we would pay and she told them it would be a debit card. However, when we checked out they demanded cash and said that if I had to pay by debit card then I would have to pay the full price. I travel all over the country because of my work but I must say that this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and on a scale of 1 to ten I would not even give it a 1.
