My husband and I stayed overnight after a school reunion party that I organised. From the time I phoned to make arrangements, until the time we left, nothing was too much trouble. The duty manager made sure that everything for the party was just as I wanted it, and on the night everything was tip top. The food was plentiful and very good and the service was excellent.
The hotel consists of three georgian houses turned into a hotel. The rooms are different sizes. Some huge, some not so big, and, not having actually seen one, only the map of the fire escape plan, some possibly very small. We had a medium sized room with plenty of storage space. Extras included a bowl of sweets, (also on the reception desk), loads of tea, coffee and drinking chocolate, with lots of milk and sugar. Packets of biscuits, a trouser press, iron and ironing board and a very nice touch. A C.D. player. Discs could be borrowed free of charge from reception.
The bathroom was roomy with lovely fluffy white towels and face flannels, lots of soaps, shampoos, shower gels etc. The one thing to let it down was the fact that there was no double glazing against the traffic noise. The hotel stands on the junction of two arterial roads into Norwich, so there is nowhere in the hotel that is noise free. Parking is no problem. The driveway at the front of the hotel has plenty of space.
The function room/breakfast room is a lovely conservatory which leads out onto a pretty garden with a pond. Seats around the garden enable you to enjoy the surroundings.
Breakfast was very enjoyable. A mixture of help yourself, a huge choice, and cooked breakfast ordered from the waitress. That again was a HUGE portion.
The hotel itself is only a brisk 5-10 minute walk from the shopping centre and bus station. Norwich has a marvellous selection of shops and things to see. Museums, art galleries, churches and 2 cathederals. The railway station is about 20 minutes walk, or a bus caught in the shopping centre will take you there in five minutes. There are plenty of places to see and things to do if you want to go outside Norwich. The coastal resorts of Gt Yarmouth and Cromer are both about 20-25 miles away and easily accessable by bus or train. The Norfolk Broads is another trip to take.
All in all, Norwich itself is "A Fine City" and the Annesley House Hotel will make your stay even more enjoyable. Prices range from about £45 for a single room to £85 for a double, although this depends on the time of year etc. As I said before, this hotel is thoroughly recommended by me and some of the girls who stayed after the party.
