“Not upto usual Ramada Jarvis Standards”

Ramada Norwich

9 Jun 2008

We booked into this hotel on a wet, damp day in July, the staff were allways pleasent but the duty manager was weak.

My wife and I have twins aged 2 and at 22.00 I could not take the heat any longer our room was dirty, unventalited and hot, no air con just 1 fan,

I demanded a room change but the hotel was fully booked I then asked for a change of hotel as it was so bad but this could not be arranged.

The next morning i was refunded my nights stay and shown the bridal suite which was airconditioned as we were in Norwich for 3 days we took this room, it was better but not great.

The hotel has long brick painted corridors, old carpet, small pool and needs a refit.

I wrote to them upon my return home and received a full refund for my trip they are aware of the hotels shortfalls but seem to ignore them.

My advice write and complain if you have stayed there and dont stay there if you are planning to.

“Great for Families”

Having read the reviews we were a little apprehensive but went ahead with our plans to stay at the Ramada Jarvis in Norwich.
We specifically requested a quiet room due to having young children. After getting to the room which was fine we received a call saying there was a late booking of a function which may go on late and it was under our room and they would move us if we wished. They apologised for not picking this up as soon as we checked in, it was not an issue. We did move and were given a lovely suite.
Going on specific points in other criticisms I am listing our views below:
We picked the hotel for the pool as the kids love swimming. It was great for family swimming with a large shallow section for the younger kids. It is about 10 metres long so fine if you want to swim lengths. Not great for any serious swimming or training but great for a family. The dinner was good and as for breakfast there was plenty of fruit and yoghurts. The cooked breakfast was also good, plus they also cook some eggs to order.
Finally the staff were amongst the most friendly and helpful I have ever encountered at any hotel and I stay in a lot.
All in all, we had a great weekend and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone especially for a family break.

“Good hotel but spoilt by the location”

If you want to use this hotel to explore Norwich then you will be disappointed as it's several miles out of the city.

The hotel to be fair is lovely. The reception staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.

We were given an upgraded room which was a pleasant surprise. One slight fault was the fresh fruit plate that was in our room on arrival. We stayed there for five days and even though some of the strawberries had started to go mouldy during that time, the plate was not removed.

No problem with the breakfasts. Reasonably priced menu for dinner and the food was pretty good.

The bar is on the small side but there is a lounge area past reception which you can use. Service at the bar was a little slow though.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. It's just a shame the hotel couldn't have been picked up and put else where as the location of it was it's downside.

Would I go back. Yes but not if I had to use it to primarily to visit Norwich. I'd find a hotel closer to the centre.

“What a let down.”

Ramada Norwich

21 Mar 2008

I've stayed in Ramada hotels before and found them to be very good, which made my stay at the Ramada Norwich even more of a disappointment. To be fair the room was okay, but everything else was a let down. My collegues and I headed down to the 'Sebastian Coe Health Suite' shortly after check in, only to find a small room with just a handful of exercise machines, half of which were broken. We decided to use the pool instead, which was tiny, L shaped and contained enough chlorine to make our eyes sting even though we'd kept our heads out of the water. Running low on options we headed for the Jaccuzzi, only to find that it was out of order. If I was Seb Coe I certainly wouldn't put my name to any of this!
After a night out in Norwich we met for breakfast in the morning, which was quite simply appalling. The waitress ignored us for a good 20 minutes, and when we called her over to ask for some coffee, she took another 5 minutes to bring some, even though it wasn't particularly busy. The buffet was the worst breakfast I have ever seen in 6 years of using hotels on business.
In summary, I think this hotel has been let down by staff who would rather be doing something else for living, as they clearly aren't interested in their current jobs.

“I still go back”

Ramada Norwich

7 Feb 2008

I've been stayiing at this hotel for a number of years now and still go back. My most recent stay was completely trouble free though I have one criticism concerning the bathroom. As the shower has a fixed head it would be a good idea for the hotel to put a complementary shower cap alongside the shower gel. Also putting one bath towel on display and 'hiding' the other in the wardrobe isn't very convenient.

Apart from this one concern there is nothing negative to report as the Ramada has clean, well maintained rooms and exceptionally helpful staff. The location is poor if you are a tourist (I wasn't) but it's probably a good choice for those with business in the area. On this trip I was in a room at the front for the first time, but the noise from the main road outside wasn't that loud and I know from past experience the rooms to the rear are very quiet.

Pretty much a standard hotel without any outstanding features but more than acceptable for the average visitor.
