We chose this place based purely on the recommendations here, but were left feeling distinctly underwhelmed. It was a family visit to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, so the experience is particularly disappointing.
The service was OK, but nothing special. The famous atmosphere you read about so often here was completely lacking. The restaurant had only 3 tables being used, and the music was inaudible. But the main complaint we had was the meat quality, or more specifically the chicken quality. There was certainly no shortage of it, but we did have a lot of chicken dishes, and the flavour was just not right. It had that 'old' taste that only chicken can have. Leave it in the fridge for 4/5 days and there you have it. The chicken in one of the dishes actually tasted fusty. Now we all like our meat, but for the first time ever, there was a lot left on the plates which believe me, says a lot for us.
The rest of the food was nice enough. Both rich and delicate flavours nicely prepared and presented as you would expect. And the beef we had was OK (ish). But overall, the whole evening was simply ruined by such a questionable quality of meat. Basic, and worrying stuff.
