Spacious rooms and a large building make this more of a guest house than a typical B&B. Everything was clean, worked, good breakfast, lots of parking, convenient location. Not particularly charming but as a good value functional place to stay it fits the bill

The Gables is a comfortable guest house about 10 minutes bus journey from the city centre. The buses are fairly frequent and there is a stop right outside the hotel, so making easy access to the city and its sights.

Our room was spacious and clean and exceptionally comfortable. And the breakfast was one of the best I have had in hotels as it is freshly cooked on ordering.

Staff are friendly and the hotel has a cosy feel to it, and not at all impersonal like some hotels are likely to be.

One of a group of B&Bs about 15 minutes walk to the University. Surrounded by 1930s housing, so few shops or eateries nearby (I bought a picnic at the Tesco Express at the nearby garage).

Modern house with rather dark decor, but well-run, quiet, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Recommended for a couple of nights business stay, not really a holiday B&B.
